Computer Clock

I know this has nothing to do with EO support, sorry :)

One of your fellow EOer's (me) is feeling like a member of the Twilite Zone! I have a 2.5 y/o laptop; I'm thinking the problem is somehow related to the change in daylight savings time a couple of years ago?

Anyway, my problem is this: In April we changed the clocks (ahead of what used to be the normal date); since then, every Friday, sometime between morning and noon, my clock goes backwards one hour; I figured it would work itself out automatically on the same weekend that would normally have been the DST date, but it still did the same thing yesterday, which was May 2.

So for the past few weeks I'll be working here on a Friday, thinking I've got lots of time, only to discover it's really an hour later!

Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know a possible solution to try? Thanks for any ideas!

I assume you have windows XP?

Does this happen when you are online or around the times you are on line?

If so, check the Date Time settings on the computer.

Start button ---> control panel --->Date and Time

The first tab, see if it says 'Eastern Daylight Time'? if it does, good. If not go to the next tab and correct it.

The Next Tab, check to make sure that you are in the correct time zone, for you it would be GMT -5 Eastern time (US & Canada). Then make sure that the check box is checked for automatically adjust clock for daylight savings time.

There should be a third tab, go there. It is for an internet time update, make sure that is unchecked.

Hit Apply and then OK

If this still happens, make sure that windows has its latest updates and then go through it again.

Wow Greg, thanks!
My thingy WAS checked for auto synchronizing with something.. and next scheduled date was.. you guessed it! Next Friday morning! I unchecked the box, so we shall see if that cleared up the problem for next Friday!
Thanks so much!
