Company name on truck

I have been hearing on the OOIDA Landline radio program that rules enacted five years ago (requiring company name on truck) are now going to be enforced. It seems they gave the industry five years to bring their fleets into compliance.

My question is. Do these rules apply to all commercial vehicles regardles of size?

The way that I understand this regulation is that all vehicles that are hauling freight commercially require authority regardless of size. Any vehicle utilizing a DOT number must have it displayed along with the company name in a legible manner.
That's the way I read it..... Scott

If you own the vehicle, you may also have your name on the truck. If you take this option, the words "operated by" must precede the company name.

Different states also have different laws . MA has required the name on commercial vehicles over 10,00lbs. gvw for years .

You are all correct. Your name/company name, VIN, DOT, ICC/MC are required. Also you must include the name of the company you are contracted to, i.e. Panther II, Con Way etc. with a line stating the affiliation such as leased to:, contracted to:. A DBA might qualify but I'm not sure of that. It should be legible from a distance of 15 feet even though many scales use cameras to display the information.
