comment on FEDXCC

Just wondering how runs have been lately with FEDXCC. We are considering puting a truck back on with them but would really like to get some honest feedback on how its been going. I realize things are slow, but how slow is it? And is it still possible to make a living with these guys? Really need some input from you all. Thanks so much for taking a minute to help me out. Stay safe out there.

I am leased on with FedEx CC and I run a B unit. I have been doing very well averaging about $1200-$1400/week. I think this is decent but I know many others would probably disagree. I came into this business for the freedom from the 9-5 job. I made much more money before but now my stress level is way down.

I have talked to other FedEx O/O's that have D units and they seem to have a wide range of opinions. It just depends on what you think is good money. I have found that in life, success comes from attitude. I know that FedEx CC doesn't always pay the most or understand all of our issues, but I take the good with the bad.

I don't really have any issues with the dispatchers. I get my share of discounted loads, but who doesn't.

I would base my decision on if this is the type of lifestyle I like and can I accept the challenges that face every O/O in this industry. As we look at the slowing economy, job lay-offs, etc. I believe this is a great industry to be in.

I hope this gives you some help. I know many people have issues with FedEx CC and the industry but the grass isn't always greener on the other side. :)

In the General Expediter Forum section at the top of the page in the right hand corner you will see the number of pages and the archives, This is the best place to research any question that comes to mind. Confucius say, if you think of it, then it's been thought of before. Although some of us do okay, now isn't the time to go out and get into debt. I do have to say most of the o/os that are leased onto a company aren't doing very good. Take a look at the archives, they speak for themselves.:'(

This is definitely NOT the time to get into or back into being a truck owner/operator, expedited or not. Times of economic unstability show up in the trucking industry- fast! Most of us who are "making it" now (or barely) are the one's who have been at it for a while and know how to compensate between good and bad times.
I liked Jeff O'Malley's posting on this thread. If he is doing OK now he will love a great economy. Only a couple of years ago when the auto industry was kicking he would have been grossing twice what he is now running solo at Roberts/Fedex.
I am in bad need of a new or newer truck at this time, but I would rather spend a few hours on the weekend patching up 'ol Betsy then finance a hot new rig right now- which in layman's terms means a newbie who wants to make a living being an owner/operator right now doesn't have much of a prayer.

If you already own a truck that you have leased on elsewhere, then I would say "yes", do put it back on with FEDEX CC. I took ours off to try another and it was immediately obvious that I made a mistake. I then came back to FEDEX and remedied the situation. The biggest can be the best in most instances! We all need a little "GOOD LUCK" !!

You've had a couple of well written responses to your question, I see.Depending on who you talk to, while on the road, some are doing great and some are just hanging on, regardless of which Company they are driving for. I hope our point of view will help you decide.
We drive for Fedexcc and have been getting several trips out west, lately. They pay well but we always have to deadhead back east to get back in the flow. We lose on deadhead miles and total pay for a week. Otherwise, we stay busy with the smaller runs, averaging a trip to Canada every two weeks. Haven't had a lot of discounted freight offers and haven't turned down very many runs. We know some people who are getting out because they can't find good drivers for their fleet. We know others who are holding off getting a new truck until they see what the industry and economy will do first quarter of next year.
We believe that Fedexcc is the best company for us. I think they are well organized and that their system still serves well in making info available for the driver to make choices from. The other side of the coin is that leasing to any company these days will be what YOU make of it, because we are all "picking off the same carcass."
Whatever you choose to do, be commited, work together and be professional. Take the best care of your vehicle that you can and let us know if we can help. Also...have fun!!!

My advise would be to look for trucks parked at truck stops and talk to them. I just left Fed Ex after 6 years. Just was not any business. Perhaps, if I lived in OH, it would have worked. However, they would not relocate me so even after spending 100 hours at home waiting for a run.

Bes of luck to you

Greetings,

My first post...I am a notorious lurker. }> }> We left Fedex CC after
only being with them for a little over two years. We left because
we were just tired of waiting for loads...and then after waiting we were getting offered real short TPS loads...and then we refused them...then we were put out of service...we felt like our business
was being micro-managed by Fedex. We did make pretty good money though.... We do miss a couple of special dispatchers/coordinators though. I could go on and on about several circumstances, instances, and procedural difficulties we incurred with Fedex but anyone who has leased with them before know all about it, as they lived through it too,and those of you who haven't leased with them...you would not believe many of the these things could have actually occurred!
