Cold weather 2003 sprinter running poorly

Hello, We are driving from Seattle to Miami Beach and are experiencing low output from our 2003 Sprinter. We can only go about 60 MPH and bough down on the hills to 45. We added a fuel additive and that helped a bit but we can not get up to the normal 70 - 75 we need to get to Miami by Wednesday. We also have an engine control light on the dash that came on after I checked the air filter.

Any suggestions for a repair place in Nashville Tennessee? We hope we just need a fuel filter for our 2003 Sprinter with the Mercedes engine.

If you installed the air filter housing incorrectly you may have triggered the fault light and that could be the reason your engine is in limp mode or has low power. I would check that first.

From Seattle to Miami means you pass through cold weather states. Many of the cold weather states require all diesel to have at least 5% Bio added. Biodiesel will clog your EGR valve and the results are exactly as you described; loss of power, difficulty getting up hills, and the engine light coming on. One way to test the EGR is: when you are having these problems, stop, shut down the engine for a few minutes, and the resume you travel. If you have normal power when you start up - thats because the EGR has openned fully when engine is off. As the condition gets worse, and it will the only solution is a new EGR or take out the one you have and clean it completely and your good to go. JMO, Jack

using ace's 2 has helped out alot as it make fuel burn better

Music City Dodge down off I-24, Bell Road exit, then right, in Antioch. If you fail to take that exit, look to your left and you can see 'em.
