Clearing up a DAC

I had a potential driver call me but when he quit a large carrier (always at the front of any slow moving line of trucks) they said he refused a drug screen. This may or may not be the case (people lie, no really the do) and he want to dispute the entry. Anyone have the contact info to do this with?

I am wondering why are you involved? Jumping from one company to another with a refusal means a lot.

Greg, the guy called me wanting to drive. I just expanded my fleet and need drivers. The alleged refusal was over 2 years ago and he claims was a spite thing from his driver manager. This is not unheard of, I assume he isnt lying and go from there. He has a clean MVR and this is the only thing on his DAC. He says he quit and was not asked for a drug test but it was plced on his report anyway. If he can get it removed, I will place him, if not, then I cant. My biggest selling tool is the 100% support we give our drivers, so he might as well see now how far we are willing to go. I never say "I think" so I told him I would ask around and find out for sure were he needed to go and call him back. Naturally I came here. :)

Joe, just wanted to know. But here is an idea, did you talk to Panther? I assume that is who the truck is on with? Maybe they can approve the driver with this the way it is or even if the DAC is clear they may not want him in the fleet.

Sitting here in seville and yes I talked to panther. The policy is no failures/refusals in the last five years. If it is removed from the DAC then problem solved. I have spoken to the husband and wife, and they are simple country folk from my neck of the woods. I find it very easy to believe there was never a demand for the test and that the refusal was nothing more than "I'll show you!" by a p/o'd driver manager. Maybe I am wrong but my gut tells me I am not.

Definately sounds like one of those "more to the story" deals. My instinct would be to stay away.

This information is listed on the page link that MentalGiant listed above, but I thought I would just throw it out here for anyone to read who might want it. :D

" How do you get a copy of your report?

Contact DAC Services at (800) 381-0645 and request information on obtaining your report. You'll probably need to request the report in writing due to security concerns and you'll want to include a copy of your driver's license and social security card. The address for DAC/USIS is:

4500 S. 129th East Avenue
Suite 200
Tulsa, OK 74134-5885

Once you receive the report, check it carefully for errors and negative entries. Chances are good that the information will be correct and positive but if it isn't, it's time to get hopping. "
