class action new HOS rules

I am appealing to all drivers and companies...the new HOS still do not reflect fatigue issues relating to team operation. Now we are supposed to drive 8 consecutive hours (presumabley to allow the off driver 8 hours consecutively in the sleeper). The last HOS rules were sent back to the FMCSA for revamping by the PATT. Well lets send this travesty back too.
Any lawyers available to start this? I'm just a working stiff... but, I'm willing to contribute as much as I can. It will cost me anyway, so I'd rather choose how my funds get spent.

I think you better wait for futher instructions from your Safety department. The way I read this is 10 hours driving. You have to have 10 hrs off in before you can drive again, but only 8 are required in the sleeper. That is for the times you are parked to allow for showers etc, but when you are moving as a team, you are gonna be on duty or driving (or yes maybe off duty) for 10 hours. If you are pushing it, that probably means driving at least 9.5.

Yes, this is going to cause a problem for many teams who are used to doing a 5 and 5 split. And yes, I agree that this in no way takes into account driver health issues. The problem is that when something has to be legislated, they have to make it apply to all and it is hard to accomodate every situation.

Don't take another driver's word for this...even mine! Talk to your safety/log department to get what they want.:+
