I am at a flying J in Indy and I am sitting there like always waiting for a load. Another panther truck pulls up and I wave too be nice when he waves back. He gets out when I am walking too do my business inside and starts too talk.

He says he is quiting panther and has been here for 2 weeks with no loads. I thought I was doing bad. He then walks to the front door and starts too pick up cigarette butts out of the ash tray in front....WTF is going on. ?!?!?!??!?!?!!?

Ok so he is either 1) Not all there and made this story of no loads for 2 week s or 2) Panther really hates us cargo vans.

So me and my BF are a team for panther and 3 weeks ago we had ummmm yeah sorry this is correct 0 , NOTHING , Zero , Nada , You get my point ? miles. 2nd week , 100 YAY!!!! 3rd week , 200. WE ARE MOVING UP. Yes this is correct . Pretty soon I am gonna be the one picking them cigarette butts at the flying J .

So why does panther have so many cargo vans and not use there teams??!?!?! Please dont say its cause of the truck. Thats BS alone. So , If u see a lonely girl with half her teeth at Flying J , Give me a cigarette PLEASE.

Thanks PANTHER you are AWESOME. Utlize them team's some MORE.

A form of irony in which apparent praise conceals another, scornful meaning.

Let us not forget the common misconception of new-ish van teams that teams in vans will get special consideration because they are a team in a van. They won't. If they're 3rd on the board and an obvious "team" load pops up they may (might, maybe) jump the other two for it, but by and large there is no real difference between a team van and a solo van. If you're a team van at the top of the board and a 100 mile load pops up, that's what you'll be offered. They won't skip the team van and offer it to a solo van, instead. Simple as that.

We get skipped all the time...they won't offer us a 100 mile load if another solo is close...ONLY when theres no unit to fit the time slot....

E-1 is a great company for "teams in sprinters!" The buzz word at Express-1 is teams and sprinters. I am a solo and I only grossed 19,960 dollars in six months and a few weeks. I was available 95% of the time, never late, and I only turned down two small loads the entire time I was with them. But don't get me wrong people; a cargo van "team" can do quite well with E-1, and some solos can even do pretty well with this company. It has just been my own personal experience that a "solo guy like me" has to fight tooth and nail to try and get a the "longer run!" Also, the rates have gone down at E-1 from 96 cpm for NLM freight (including fuel surcharge) all the way down to 90 cpm over the past few months. So, if the rates are going to be almost as low as they were when I was running for "Arrow Freight Systems" for 85-90 cents per mile, why not drop all of the qc fees and personal injury insurance?? I can save money by running for a carrier who is cheap on pay but does not charge one dime in deductions. Anyhow, I would recommend you and your boyfriend to hop over to Express-1! If I was "myself" in my current situation "a team truck" I would have never left Express-1. That is just my opinion. PS-- (please OVN do not go right for my jugular!! lol)!

I think I ran into that poor soul at the J.Me and my team driver stopped there to take a break and fuel up.The poor chap was grabbing every butt he could get his hands on.the van was a really beat up 97-96 dodge. It had rust holes in the side of it and even the cats on it were faded.

Blizzard, on six months and a few weeks, were you out six months & a few weeks straight or is there some time off in there somewhere?

Sorry to hear that a van driver has been sitting that long. I think I would have offered to buy the poor soul dinner. I can't say much about vans to be honest because I never thought vans could make money.

This is blizzard. I created this name to sell an item in the classifieds section. I never take time off when I am on the road because I live in California. I only take time off in hotel rooms when business is slow on the weekends. So, to answer your question, there was no time off taken at all. I was available for freight 95% of the time when I was working for E-1.

I'm clearly not to Bright, but it seems to me when your averaging about $110.00 a day before expenses, staying in Motels when your slow. Your probably in the same tax bracket as some one who bags Groceries for a living.

Ok pj pick on the poor van guys!!! We suffer with too many being hired, too many hang on hoping for more runs and none get together to complain to the carriers. What we got is too many out there for the declining freight to haul. Of course part of the problem is over hiring by the companies that they have so many available all over making coverage is great!

Unfortunately when it gets slow the earnings for some can be quite bad. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw, position, being fresh in dispatchers mind. Like when I hang out at the company office I get a load pretty fast. If I sit out of sight but booked on it can take a couple of hours before I see anything but the other guys are moving (who booked after me). So the secret is to be in the minds of the dispatcher more so than the other guys. Now to accomplish this without being a pain in the a##.
