Chickens - here chick chick chick

Ok I am sitting here at the J enjoying the warm rain in GA, watching a movie and wondering what three chickens (one rooster and two hens) are doing in the parking lot? I thought I was dreaming when I heard crowing at 6 AM and fell back to sleep just to be awaken several times by the same crowing. As I am watching them hunt for food around my truck, I think of the Chicken dinner that may be on the menu at the J or wonder if these are just J pets?

I know J is cheap, maybe this is a new program for them to economize thier operations and provide fresh food, makes you wonder what happened to the cat that used to roam around here?

This is not the first time I have sat here and saw Barn Yard animals roaming around. I saw someone's pet piggy run across the parking lot being chased by five kids and what apearded to be a very stressed out mother. a half an hour they chased that piggy. Another time I watched as a trailer with two Lamas pulled in, one Lama got lose and run all over the place and the second Lama took off to the pilot across the street. Maybe I should move?

Maybe the second llama had the right idea... I don't think that llama is an acceptable menu item, even at the Js across the nation!!!

This brings up an interesting point, and a topic that has been fairly close to home recently. I had been considering purchasing a couple of Llamas, until I realized that you can't eat them when you get tired of them. That fact alone immediately got them removed from the list of acceptable barnyard pals.
The new rule at my house - If they won't look good next to the mashed potatoes it's probably not a good idea to bring them home.

I did'nt know you could'nt eat them. Where is the profit in having them?

When my ex and I moved to northern Michigan and our little 40, we bought 2 steers to finish and butcher. We kept a half for ourselves and sold to 3 others. We named them "Lunch" and Dinner" and put pictures of them on our freezer. We had friends come up to visit and when they saw the pictures they freaked. They did'nt want their 8 year old to know where hamburger came from. He is now 22 and I would'nt be surprised if he still does'nt know.
