Changed sprinter fuel filter, won't start?

I finally decided to change the sprinter fuel filter on a 2002 for the first time myself, now it will not start. Seems fuel will not get to the new filter. Does anyone know how to bleed system or why I do not hear the fuel pump running? Any ideals or help?

I have no experience with a Sprinter directly, but a lot with deisel engines. Most likely you did not prime the new fuel filter when you installed it. You fuel system has lost it's prime.

Remove the filter and fill it with fuel then reinstall it. Check your owners manual for the proper technique for priming the fuel system and follow the steps. You should be rewarded with a running engine.

Changing your fuel filter on a diesel isn't like changing your oil filter. You have to fill the filter up to the top with fuel(very messy) and then replace it.

One of the things I will say for this MB engine is the fuel filter is done right. It's an element that goes down into a reservoir and has a screw on cap. When changed you take a container and pour fuel in until the reservoir is full and then screw on the top. Not as messy as the fill the filter and screw it on without spilling variety.
