Your in for 100 different answers! Everyone has there favorite stories and of course there worst! We had good luck with Verizon and went with them because of the internet service and additional phones we had in use. So hold on and wait for the rest of the group to overwhelm you. Just remember you gotta service what you buy. Therefore I would stick with the big providers.

I used to have T-Mobile and switched to Cingular on the GAIT plan. It is supposed to have the absolute largest coverage area period. It still has areas with no service or inadequate service and that's on interstate highways. I also made the mistake of getting their aircard for my notebook computer. That's a big mistake. I will probably either go back to T-Mobile or go to Nextel on their plan where all incoming calls are free. With 400 minutes a month to call out that's plenty. I can use 1 minute to call someone and ask them to call me back. The rest of the call is free after that. Good luck with whatever you choose.

We got the best service out of verizon wireless. For the 2years we were on the road together most of the time we had service. My husband switched to cingular because of possible better rates and more minutes.Well,he doesnt like them,he's almost always out of service, even on the main interstates. We cant hold a conversation over the phone without getting cut off.We are going back to verizon, this was the best plan for us.:)

I have used several of the national providers - none of them compare to the coverage and quality of AT&T. I use their nationwide plan (they were the first to offer this concept)and have been very happy with it.

Did you know that AT&T is getting bought out by Cingular? The switch over is supposed to be complete by the end of the year.

Draco - I heard that, I didn't know it was a done deal. I wonder how that will effect service, coverage and fees?

Lawerence,
It's a done deal, if I remember right it's just gonna take till the end of the year to work out all the details. Well so far from what I've heard the coverage area is supposed to be the biggest out there. As far as rates and everything else haven't heard yet. I like Cingular's gait plan and really like the rollover minutes. Cause some months I use more minutes then I do others. But they have some dead areas in Kentucky and Tennessee as well as out west. I'm hoping that the merger will "fix" these weak areas.

Verizon. Good coverage, I have had a few dropped calls, but those were 45 miles past nowhere, in the middle of hills.

we've had ATT for several years. Every year when contract is up, I bargain for something extra to stay on another year. I either get a new fone or more mins. As of now, we get 1500 anytime and 1000 after 7 pm for $99 + taxes, before a FedEx discount.

The coverage however, is not as good as it seems it ought to be. The interstates in most of southern Indiana is poor to non-usable. GA I75 is not so great either. I'm hoping the Cingular deal will help us all.

Verizon for company calls and it has best coverage coverage and is the most expensive-Cost-$50.00-1 phone-400 minutes nationwide-no roaming charges ever-free weekends only

Sprint for friends, family, and computer-$120-2 picture telephones-2000 minutes-free week nights after 7-free weekends-free calls to all Sprint users-use as modem for computer without cost-

As Glen said you will get 100 different answers. We have 2 cell providers, one is Cingular and I have been very pleased with them, the other is with Verizon and they seem to be so-so_One good aspect is that in a area where one provider does't have signal the other one will.
The only portion of the country that I have had poor recepition from Cingular is SouthEast Alabama and the Florida panhandle.

Overall, I've had really good luck with Verizon (driving around the country in a tour bus). My family and I just switched to their "in" plan. In addition to the included plan minutes, you can call anyone with Verizon service (cell phone to cell phone) at no additional cost...anytime - day or night...and it doesn't subtract from your plan minutes.
