Im a Cargo van independant contractor here in Pittsburgh, and now after 3 years w/ the same co.its time 2 move on due 2 the fact that I practically have 2 beg for my check on friday`s now and Im sick of it.The situation here in Pitt is pretty grim anymore. All the local delivery, logistics places only pay $100-150 a day and your gonna put in 12-14 hours, and that just dont cut it anymore. Ive looked into Panther2, but after all the insurance and leasing crap, your basically out workin for peanuts. Can any of you "veterans" guide me down the right track of some good companies or ideas. ive also posted my van on the main site. has anyone else gotten any good results from this? thank you much.

I believe any of the BIG companys can make you profitable? Do you go home several times a week or do you go out and run the system and keep moving? This is a commited job and not a part time job. You put in the time and effort and you will be rewarded. If going home is important and to many people it is crutial to get home often, then maybe you need a job in your home city and for now give up the over the road life. Good luck and be safe.

JCEXPRSS,

First welcome to EO, I would like to clarify something in your post regarding our Classified Ads. Our "Drivers Available" section is a tool we offer to fleet owners and sub contractors to find each other.

It is not intended for load matching. I hope that makes the purpose of our Classifieds clearer.

Thanks.

We're still new and been doing alot of research-every single company has drivers that love it and drivers that hate it. I think everyone has to find THEIR spot. So far, after reading the archives, I've found that alot of Tri-State drivers seem to be pretty happy. Hope this helps.

I did pretty good with FedExCC when I ran with them. But you need to learn to play 'their game' so to speak.
