Can't believe this..

Reading the Palm beach post today with Cynthia's dad when I see a story about the City of Lake Worth canceling the Veterans Day Parade as it is not in the budget..
Ok I am on the soapbox for less pork barrel spendthrifts and intrigued at this point.
The money would be better spent on revitalization I am sure, maybe a warm meal for the real homeless that roam the very streets that will still sanction the Gay Pride festivities ending with a parade to celebrate the coming out..
WHAT??
Yes folks the sanction of gay pride in the midst of "blue hairs" that laid their life on the line seems reasonable..
Maybe someone I admire in their 80's can get their nipples pierced so they can display their Purple Hearts and Bronze medals while wearing G-strings, stockings and eyeshadow and learn to prance and say "you go girl" while humming the intro for Macho Man by the Village People..
Yep that's a reality I want to embrace..
I am not a homophobe nor do I dislike someone for their sexual orientation as I believe you are born what you are but I have to say it is a sad day when sexuality is more important than character.
Bless the Vets and I hope you don't take it laying down (literally).

I think if I lived there I'd have to inform the city fathers that if they cancel the veteran's parade and keep the gay parade they should expect to hear from my attorney and a lawsuit for fiscal irresponsibility.

I agree with you Leo but it would be pointless..
The counter would be the draw of pecker puffers with money to spend on motels and entertainment will boost the existing economy while the latter would only serve to benefit the locals that already pay taxes and sustain the economy...
Again I don't really care if you want to honk a BoBo just remember during Gay pride week you can express your individuality cause some one put their life on the line to guarantee you that right.
Smile as you state to the world you have the ability to show your pride!
Be however cognizant of the sacrifices made by many to ensure you of that right.
Your Dad, uncle, cousin or neighbor should be denied cause they are not adding enough to the coffers..
The national bank of stupid where only those who lack a vested interest can dictate where money is spent in the best interest of their personal agendas (usually monetary).

I'd still push the issue as far as possible as well as doing everything possible to have them defeated at the next election. I don't care what anyone does on their own. I do have a problem if they neglect those who are truly deserving like the veterans in favor of a group that is only promoting sexual orientation. Those politicians should be ashamed and should be ridiculed and fired at the next election.

I hope they vote this down, even though I'm gay, I do have a proper set of priorities, the Veterans of this country deserve the respect, and have more right to a parade than gays. Yes, we have a right to fight for the rights we lack, but if not for the veterans, we might not have the right to fight for those rights.

Thank you JR for coming forward with your comment and I apologize for the insensitive label.
I am not at emotional odds with any gender, race or sexual orientation but feel we lost something along the way in regards to priorities..
Although my delivery comes in a satirical format I never mean to belittle anyone for their lifestyle choices, nor do I intend to influence public opinion at the personal expense of an innocent.

Another illistration of not being involved politically. People become complacent and not angry enough to recall them.

I brought this point up the other day; why is it when someone is elected at the city level the first thing that they seem to do is change from being fiscally responsible and wanting to hold down property taxes to being a predator when it comes to the city and taxes.

This is the same thing, I live in a township that they decided to pave every street in the township because it is needed to be modern and "capture more tax revenue by increasing the value of the homes on the streets being paved". I ask why do they need to increase taxes, cut some services that are not traditional like the program that help people find housing in Detroit - we are not Detroit.
