Would like to know if anyone else is interested in campgrounds where we can park and camp while waiting on our loads. Some times we are stuck out here over the weekend not often mind you but would be nice to know of some if any you go to. We would rather enjoy those and be plugged in there than sit at the truck stop. Going to try to to get a list going if anyone else is interested? Again lil time off never hurts especially burn some fire wood.

If you are in a cv, why would any campground not let you camp? I've paid the day use fee several times and grabbed a shower and relaxed in the shade. 10-20$ in most will get a site w water and electricity if they are available and you were gonna be there overnight. When I don't do that, I spend the night in walmart parking lots. Lots of light and most have "security" that drive around. That little orange light makes me feel safer. Lol. Better than nothing.

Btw, if anyone is interested, search for iPhone app called "allstays camp & rv". Awesome app for fuel, camping, rest stops, walmarts, etc. Fairly accurate and you can submit corrections. Also, "oh ranger" is pretty good for state and federal parks.

Only link to a campground that I have and they will gladly let you and truck in..Use it every time I get stuck in Virginia beach,
$46.00 a day last time I was in there.Holiday Travel - Virginia Beach
Also I think the woods and water thread has links to Mich state parks.
I don't go often but I do hit camp grounds from time to time and never been turned away yet.Suggest someone call before ya d/head only to be turned away.
I rarely use truck stops other the the walmart ones but I suggest ya call ahead before d/heading to one only to get turned away..

Well you go to the World Wide Web and dial in campgrounds in (whatever city your going to) and wola there it is. About everybody has a web site now that worth their weight. They usually have a map attached as well.;)

Mission park was nice. It has many permanent residents, and I felt very safe there. we were able to buy a small disposable grill and grilled out. Laundry was a dollar to wash and a dollar to dry, cleanest showers I have ever seen, very clean bathrooms, pool, hot tub, basketball court, tennis court, security patrolling at night, cable, electric, sewer, and water. Nice and quiet

Might want to try these 2 discount cards for RV'ers too.......

Good Sam RV Club

Not sure how the Good Sam Club card is, never got around to getting one since there's like a KOA in just about every city out there. (Like Motel 6, Super 8, etc)

Value Kard Rewards - Campground Discounts & Savings | KOA Campgrounds

The KOA card has "steps" in its usage discounts. Keep all your receipts (I think its like 20 stays or something), send them in and they'll upgrade your card to a "VIP" card.

Back when I was hauling RV's, there would be nights when I would only pay like $19 for a fully equipped space (elect-water-dump-cable-etc) when I had a trailer on my truck, and only like $8-$10 for a "Tent" space that had elec, water, and cable when I didn't have a trailer behind me.

For you "Vanners" out there, a tent space is all you would need. (The Tent space has a parking spot and like a sandbox for the Tent) I'd rather spend that $10 or so, even it's just for 12 hours or so, than I would sitting in any truck stop or Wal-Mart parking lot. Know what I mean.

Holiday Campground in San Antonio is wonderful. Shuttle stops right out front to take you to the riverwalk. There is also a campground NW of Dallas at Weatherford on a huge lake that is awesome. $18-$30. Cable TV hookup and wifi, etc. Also the Casino at Joliet Illinois has a wonderful RV Park that was $18 a night and quiet. Much better than the Pilot at Minooka. Lastly, the Castaic Lake State Park behind the Castaic Pilot in CA is $20 a night lakefront and fantastic.

South Central Kansas - Harvey County State Park: Harvey County West Park

Northwestern Alabama - Joe Wheeler State Park: Alabama State Parks

East Texas - Padre Island State Park: Padre Island National Seashore, a Texas National Park

We elected for primitive camping (i.e., no shore power). Can't recall the fees, but we paid less than $20 a night.

We obtained fishing licenses and drowned bait at the first two. Very relaxing weekends.

Padre is breathtaking. The RV parking (expediting parking!) is literally spitting distance from the beach. A two mile walk on the sand yielded several sand dollars and other exotic shells. You sleep to the sound of the surf. Be sure to look for ghost crabs after dark. :) Spaces are limited, so call ahead.

The campground where my permanent home is located welcomes Expediters and is open year around. It is called Rasar Landing in Vonore, TN. Located on Tellico Lake, just south of Knoxville.
