The biggest concern will be the frame supporting the weight after the stretch. I highly recommend you have a quality shop like Gtec in Detroit Mi do the work and have a frame liner installed. You will never regret having having a stiff frame. If your truck sags you will wish you never started with a short wheelbase cab. Good luck.

In addition to Glen's comments, I would review with whomever does your conversion that they do a weight ratio review.
T2000 are usually pretty heavy on the front end. In addition to the frame issues, you may be replacing and or removing fuel tanks to lighten it up. Rear wheels or duals are critical in where they are going to be placed. Certainly can be done, but be careful that you have an experienced bunch doing it.

An interesting idea for a class 8 has been mentioned here before... an argosy. I didn't think it practical since it's a cabover, but when talking to TonyII, he mentioned all the basics are under the front hood, and it wouldn't have to be tipped unless there is major maintainence to be done.
With an argosy you would have a 110" sleeper, and could put on a 30' box and still be legal length. The dog house is also only 3" high. After a year or so of driving the beast I have now, I plan on seriously checking out the argosy myself. Hope this helped.

If you are interested I know of a 2001 Freightliner FLD112 with a 96" aero bunk and 22' body, single axle and lift axle, all aluminum wheels.
This truck has a 320 HP Detroit, 320,000mi, excellent condition and warranty until July 2005.
