Buying Contaminated Fuel

I had a shocking look at the slime in my fuel filter today.

It is well known that when prices skyrocket, dealers and distributors let their tanks go very low in anticipitation of falling prices. They then pump the sludge from the bottom of their tanks, into yours.

What are you doing to combat the problem?

It,s actually a yearly ongoing problem, when stations begin changeover from summer/winter/summer blends. They suck out the tanks on purpose. But, your probably 100% correct (particularly at the smaller stations), everyone is trying to squeeze every ounce of fuel out of their tanks before ordering higher priced fuel (of course the daily raise their prices at the pump keeping up with market prices). Keeping an extra eye on your filters, pump at only busy stations, and plan to change filters more often is our plan.
