Broke down during a loaded run?

Layoutshooter is correct.Take a Saturday, and remove every battery and alternator as well as all ground connections, and clean them to a shine. Then put them back on, and spray them with some anti-corrosion spray. With wintertime coming up, it is much easier to do it now in the nice weather, then in the snow...You're electrical system will thank you...Also, if a battery replacement is needed, get a good, reputable battery, such as a Interstate Megatron. You may pay more, but, you get what you pay for in the end..

Also, before winter, if you have an original or real old blower motor, it may be wise to change it,along with the resistor, before it dies in the middle of South Dakota or someplace cold...Nothing worse than not having heat in the cold...

Sounds like a belt or belt tensioner problem.

Yea, I was wondering what the power steering going out had to do with the alternator as well.Belt tensioner makes perfect sense.Might as well replace the idler pulley as well.A new good quality belt wouldn't hurt as well.

Last year, I had some severe issues. The van shut down, everything all at once. I managed to keep it going for a little while but the day came it wouldn't be ignored any longer. It was the battery, an open most likely near the positive terminal. A new battery and new connector screw, and I haven't had the problem since.

Low voltages will throw stray signals at the ECM and sometimes it doesn't play nice when the voltage gets squirrelly. That and the belt issues-- yep, I'd have that checked.

Does this cover a van of you're size to be towed? Reason I ask, I had coverage by AAA as well, and the towing company wouldn't tow it under AAA because of the size of my van.Had to pay out of pocket.

as far as South Dakota rules go YES.....talk to your state rep....there is certain criteria to be covered....I talked with mine today at length and got the scoop.....If they agree to cover it, they will tow it...

we both got ripped by whatever state AAA denied us a tow.....should have applied in your case to Ohio AAA for re embursement

We have used AAA for our sprinter as well. We even requested a flat bed without any problems.

If you get the AAA RV card they will also change flat tires or tow a disabled trailer. I have the AAA "PLUS RV" card. I also have roadside assistance with my Progressive Insurance. They would have no choice but to tow the insured vehicle, they know what you have upfront. That only costs me an additional $24 per year. With Progressive they also have a rental reimbursement option, they will pay for a rental cargo van up to $50 per day up to a maximum of $1,500 annually. It would allow me to get a rental van and continue on the run, if time allows.

I don't know the legaleeze if my carrier would allow that...in relationship to the cargo insurance....probably would for those that pay their own primary insurance tho

I pay my own insurance and cargo insurance, both with Progressive. Seeing how Progressive would know about the rental because their paying for it, it seems like you would need to fax some paperwork to your carrier so they knew the serial numbers. Good point, I guess I need to ask more questions before I need the service.

I paid the money so I could keep moving, and get the freight delivered on time. that run, and the run I just completed after the other Preventive maintance in El Paso, will cover that...so technically I never stopped

Reading the legal stuff on AAA website for my area it says covered trip interruption is limited to leisure travel so I guess if they find out your working not doing leisure travel they can refuse to pay
