This is from Darrell W Childress on Facebook..Due to Gross Injustice shown to a DISABLED VETERAN with a Service Dog at the Pizza Hut in TROY, AL on 8/14/2011 I am requesting a BOYCOTT to Pizza Hut for solidarity for Veterans and Mililtary. A disabled Vet had a service dog in the above Pizza Hut. He was ousted out because another customer was afraid of the service dog. This is how Pizza Hut treats our military troops and our military vets??

I'm all for a good boycott but, this is a single store and I'm sure not corporate policy. Where is the documentation on the incident so we can see if there is any Corp. involvement? Is there more than one pizza hut in Troy? I'd suggest, if it proves true, going by that location and having them write up a nice big order on their order pad and then say that's what I would have done had you not ejected the veteran and his service dog. Now, if it proves with evidence to be corporate on down then boycott them all and be sure to let them know why.

I am always skeptical of things like this because there are so many things that are spread but just completely untrue, like the idea Pepsi was putting the Pledge of Allegiance on their can without the words "under God" on there. This was spread about a year and a half ago and has started making the rounds on Facebook again.

That he's a disabled vet is irrelevant. Service dogs are allowed everywhere in public. Action should come from the state agency that enforces that there.

Pizza Hut here in Fort Wayne nearly has a monopoly, wehave over 20 pizza huts and only three Papa John's and NO Domino's

Pizza Hut is doing something right here.
BTW what is it about Pizza Hut you dislike they have 4 different crusts and 2 sauces, enough to satisfy most everyone

On August 14, 2011, former Marine First Sergeant David Mark Anderson, a disabled veteran with a service dog, entered the Pizza Hut in Troy, AL. Almost immediately a customer in the dining room became upset, her face became flushed, she began crying, trembling uncontrollably, sweating, had difficulty breathing, and complained of tightness in her chest. The restaurant manager went to her aid and asked her what was wrong, and with great effort she managed to say, "I'm afraid of dogs!"

Upon hearing the commotion and what she said, the veteran turned in the direction of the woman and said, "Suck it up, lady. Get over it or get out."

The manager told the woman that while he was sorry, she would have to quiet down or leave the restaurant, as she was disturbing the other guests, plus she was being very offensive to a genuine true-blue, red-blooded, bona fide American Hero.

This is outrageous! Is this the kind of compassion a disabled veteran has for fellow citizens he claims to have been fighting for and protecting? Is this the kind of empathy and sympathy that Pizza Hut shows for its customers who are genuinely afraid of large animals? I am requesting a BOYCOTT to Pizza Hut for solidarity for restaurant goers and people afraid of dogs everywhere! This deplorable behavior must stop NOW!

See how easy it is to make up this crap and then post it to the Internet? Somebody forgot to cash in their free Pizza Hut coupon from Facebook before it expired, and now they're gonna exact their revenge. <snort>

A couple of things...

"Service dogs are allowed everywhere in public."

Not true. There are exceptions. They can be excluded from areas where their presence would constitute either a fundamental alteration of goods and services, or a direct threat to safety. It is strictly up to the director of the facility whether to allow a service dog at open air zoological exhibits, such as open air aviaries (presence of a dog could frighten the birds), churches, jail or prison cells, places where food is prepared (other than the dining area). It's totally up to the judge to allow or disallow service dogs in federal court. With few exceptions, service dogs are also not allowed in hospital ICU rooms, most areas of the ER, most ambulances, most delivery rooms, and any sterile environment like the OR.

Also, much like Kleenex (tissue), Laundromat (coin laundry), Escalator (moving stairs), Jacuzzi (hot tub and spas), and Velcro (hook and loop closures), Seeing Eye is a brand name of a guide dog. :D

Pizza Hut sucks, tastes terrible, tastes like greasy biscuits topped with greasy cheese and greasy toppings. Same with Domino's. And Papa Johns. And every other pizza place out there. Starbucks serves swill. No, it's true, actual swill. That's why they all have such a hard time getting customers and are out of business. Even bad pizza is still pretty good. Same with BBQ. <snort>

And even with all those exceptions you just listed, they constitute such a minuscule percentage of public places, that any sensible person would still call it "everywhere."

I knew there'd be one...

I like their pizza...although I like pizza from NYC better

If you ever make it to racine wi try the fetuccine Alfredo pizza on virgin crust from dinos. We have all three of the bigs and I would rather order from the 4 local places for their variety than the bigs.

dinos had the stars of the real world in their store recently. They created their own pizzas and are now featured fund raiser food for a local org. Never had a bad pie from there. Never had a bad pie from buono vita either. If it's thin crust, very thin crust then wells brothers is your place.
