i am only asking because i really have no idea and all of those that i have talked with are hauling for a % of the load...so who is working for a flat rate??

Why would a carrier put a cargo van load on a straight truck and have to pay more money for the larger truck to haul it? Also, a shipper is not going to pay straight truck rate for a cargo van load to be shipped.

well as has been mentioned many times either the shipper or the c'see does not have a ramp and dock high is the only way to move that 1500 lb 2 skid load.....course if the van had ramps that got it dock high then that owner is one leg up on the competition.

Anyone have a load??? I need one! lol....but I won't run for less than .75 either....that's just plain not worth my time. Last week I was offered runs that weren't paying layover and they wanted me to hold the load overnight from 9am to 9pm....and it still counted as a refusal on my part, but my van isn't a storage unit unless I'm paid layover....although I did take a run from Houston, TX to Windsor, ON last week that paid .74 but it had a .08 cent fsc....but I also got a stopoff, border crossing, plus 34 for dh from dallas, tx...and the load was 1315 miles....i can't really complain but I would have prolly turned it down if it was .69 or cheaper. sorry I haven't been on here in a while.....just don't have a laptop anymore....

There are CV's hauling freight ALL over the country without DOT #s on them, and not just a few......there are also people covering their carriers names and DOT #'s with blank magnetic signs when thay are hauling loads for other carriers.....its done daily some with the consent of the carriers, some without...bolt is not ok with that happening as it violates "exclusivity clause" in their contract....

Alot of people believe that rules are to be broken, much like soeeding.....

It does happen far more than people may know. I may or may not know about a case of it this past weekend...

Greg may be correct,I remember hearing something similar in Ohio from a towing co owner freind of mine....about having DOT #'s on the side of his tow-trucks, which are Ford F-550's

I full well understand that it isn't kosher to not have a truck committed when you bid an NMLI load (however as Turtle points out, it ain't illegal)

I hope that, being the really smart fellow that you obviously are, that you actually have some proof of the accusations you are making (farming out NLMI loads) .... opposed to just passing along stuff you heard at the truck stop from "those in the know"

You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what I run my loads for .... so please stick a cork in your pie hole with the "yall" .....

AGREED ......Use your own advice

But since you brought it up, here's my average rate per loaded mile, weekly for 5 weeks (around the last month or so, starting a week or so ago):

W/E 10/11/09 - $0.8895 per mile
W/E 10/04/09 - $1.0288 per mile
W/E 09/27/09 - $0.9581 per mile
W/E 09/20/09 - $0.8090 per mile
W/E 09/13/09 - $0.8222 per mile

Over that 5 weeks I ran 10,493 loaded miles, with a unpaid dispatched deadhead to my pickups of 1,224 miles. No brag, just fact.

sounds a lot like bragging to me , but then again..... your proud of those rates???

And be sure to keep in mind when you look at the above figures that I'm a Sprinter that can only hold two pallets (built-in sleeper bunk) .... so unless it's tall, it's probably what would be considered van freight (most of what I haul)
I have a 36 inch bunk sleeper and I haul 3 pallets

And BTW - yes: if we ever happen to meet somewhere, I would be quite happy to pull up the above numbers on FleetVision to verify for you that they are real.

ahhhhh fleetvision the godof all programs lol

I tried reading your initial post - judging by several other posts in this thread I wasn't the only one that found it pretty much incomprehensible ....

Omigawsh ..... now I'm really offended ......

So what would be your suggestion ?

Maybe we should write our congressional reps and ask them to pass a law preventing any bids that result in pay less than say, what .... a buck per mile ?

If 1/2 of you yahoots would do that.......we'd all FINALLY make some REAL MONEY!!!!

Or maybe we could just outlaw O/O's and drivers from taking cheap loads ?

Which, of course, is just another way of saying: "I really don't have a clue, since I didn't actually bother to talk to either of them ... so I'll just make a wild-assed guess instead ...."

Is that what they are doing ? Really ?

I guess I missed the memo .....

Well, they ain't ruining mine .....

Of that I'm quite sure ..... the world has no shortage of idiots.
