ok some of you vets explain this one...

we emptied in buffalo,ny. had to come to seville for certain reasons. about 100 miles from seville we called for truck count. at that time
there was 9 trucks in seville 3 more on their way according to dispatch.
when we got to the terminal we took care of business and headed for the
truckstop.at this time there were still 9 trucks 7 being teams did not
even make it to the t/s and was offered a 600 mile run.question being with 9 trucks 7 being teams and we were not even in seville more then 20
minutes.how did we end up with this load.not complaining the least little bit.however I ask again. does board position really matter.personally I think not.

Could be you had the liftgate, extra bars/straps, hazmat endorsement, higher weight capacity, extra length or whatever they needed and the others didn't. Any one of those can make the difference.

word again. you know that one we don't like to use here?ok ok I'll say
it."IT WAS LUCK" I guess.thing is we have been running great all week
with the exception of DH from home (central fl.) to charlotte on monday
other then that we have been moving all week. All I can say about that
is IT'S ABOUT TIME.only draw back to the 756 paid mile run it don't load till saturday afternoon for a monday delivery.guess that's where the"UNLUCKY" part comes into play.not to start another thread on luck again but I don't believe in luck either.as LUCK would have it we are sitting in commerce,ga. till we can go pick it up.charlotte to delaware
DH from delaware to maryland to pick up for Buffalo,ny. DH to seville

Teams get the over 500 mile runs before the solos so the load doesn't have to swap.
Team=lucky.
Go for it! There's is nothing like a good run to re-charge your attitude.

She said 7 teams were there. What i think it boiled down to was you were close to the pickup then the others were sitting at the truck stops. Or was it that your truck makes less money then the other trucks sitting there. No that cant be it. They would never do that to anyone...

Sometimes a customer will request the largest straight truck available. You have a 24' truck, Not common. Production runs until the truck is at the dock and then they load.

Other trucks may have declined the load, home time for some. Generally speaking there is an order that is followed.

With a short lead time to pickup they will always offer the load to the closest truck with respect to solo or team.

If you were only in Seville for 20 minutes, your last position polling on the Qualcomm may have been 30 miles or so closer to the shipper than the other trucks in Seville. Customer may have been ready to go home, or needed a smoke break, and told your carrier he wanted the quickest pickup posssible. The moral of the story is that there are more reasons "dispatching around" a truck than meets the driver's eye. Be thankful for your good fortune, (is that the same as luck?) and next time you feel like you've been dispatched around, just think about how this episode evens things out.

Yesterday I was "sleeping" in Detroit Panther offer me a load just to put me at the bottom of the list ...after 10 days with a 140 miles ..I cannot wait for them and I got another job..Don't wanna argue with dispatchers but for me is strange they had 26 available trucks here.

And sometimes it just dosnt matter at Panther LOL. Ive been out of service, And my buddy across town being about the same distance from the shipper was in service with about the same acceptance % and they have called me. Ask my board position once out of columbus oh. and got the message 8th out and load offer along with it. I have sat 1st out on good boards for days and I know they are going around me. with no offer. I guess if you are going to get something or not is just a coin toss..............LOL .............just the luck of the draw....

I know some of you will just think I am bashing Panther, but, I do not mean to come across that way.
Board position means nothing if 2,3, or 4 trucks or more are in the same area. They will look at acceptance rate, on time rate, etc.
On the other hand if all those rates are the same but all trucks are in different areas they will take the closer truck.
Bottom line - service to their customer comes first, care of their drivers is secondary!

The Panther dispatchers have a set of guidelines they must follow, there are loopholes and sometimes they may bend the rules (just like you do)but over all they are monitered and very fair.
You must also realize that there is a very high turnover rate with dispatchers there (high pressure/low pay) and this leads to mistakes due to inexperience.
It's not a perfect system but they are generating alot of loads for any driver that wants to run.
It has been encouraging to see several of the good dispatchers promoted to supervisory roles over the past almost 3 years.
