Bluetooth Headset

What bluetooth headset are you using? Would you buy the same one again if the one you have quit working?

I have a small Motorola, I forget the model, which is good at home or walking, but when the truck is moving I have trouble hearing. I would like to buy one that works better for our application.

yeah, I'm with you , I have a motorola and it works good in my van but not in my ST, it's just because it dosent fit exactly into my ear because when I hold it tight into my ear I can hear fine. This is the reason that I see all of the truckers wearing the ones like they are taking an order from the drive thru, I think that they are good at noise cancelling, I've heard the one called jawbone is good but expensive

I have a Plantronics 925 I think. I got it at Best buy for $130
and it works great. Has a little doohickey that fits just in your
ear, not one of the ear hanger things.

My problem was hearing my phone ring while I was going down the road. Bluetooth linking it to my Garmin GPS helped me hear it ring, but I still can't hear any better talking over the GPS. I like the idea of answering by touching the screen though. Just wish I could find a way to hear better. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be?

I use a motorola 350 unit for the phone and for the most part is not too bad. maxed the volume so as to hear over noise in the van but it is better in the st. I'm going to try it on the radio next as it's supposed to work with it as well. I have about 3 headsets which i like better except for the cable getting in the way. They have of course boom mics which pickup great and the earpiece covers the ear and are more comfortable (for me). My biggest problem with most of these items (wireless or wired) has been volume with the motorola phone/radio units (so far have had 4 different ones).

We have several headsets and my favorite is the Blue Parrot and I have two of these. We have had these a couple of years and you can now order new batteries for them from Blue Parrot and not have to replace the headset. They work very well in the truck. Bob also uses a Cobra head set but I do not like the way it fits on my head. When at home and not driving I use a Jawbone.

jawbone2.

the old behind the ear unit had broken and was duct taped together.
the only thing i do not like is even with the smallest ear plug attached, the unit still leaves the ear and if i look down for something it dangles.
on the good side it lasts a week with a charge and has 4 hrs talk time life battery. it recharges easily with the radio shck invertor running while the engine sings a happy song at 2k rpm going down the road.

I'm also a Blueparrot fan. I have one for each phone. I have the original model on my business phone. I've talked to people that swear you can't replace the battery, but they haven't looked into it. The battery's 10 bucks, and if it takes you more than a couple of minutes to replace it, you really took your time.

I have the newer B250 model on my personal phone. They talk about improved battery life, but I'm just not feelin' it. If you get one and where it in public in places other than a truck stop, be prepared for comments like, "how are things in outer space?"

Hey Team, sorry I didn't get to meet you guys yesterday. Maybe next time.

You know, I saw a few blueparrots in the truck stops before, but didn't know what they were. I always thought they were weird, being as big as they are. If they are as good as you say they are, I might buy one, since I only need it for the van. But, I would not wear that in public if you paid me... :)

Not a headset, but a BlueTooth hands-free speakerphone by LG - solar & electronic recharging, up to 22 hours talk time, echo and noise cancellation, and a volume level that's loud enough to hear it in the Sprinter for the most part. About the size of a business card and about 3/8" thick, comes with a suction window mount. Relatively inexpensive (I paid $80)

Was using a JawBone (original) before this (and still on occasion) - biggest problem I had with the JB was not enough volume to hear the other party well:

I have an El Chepo, $20, jwin that I got at a Willco. It works great. It has an ear clip that works on eather ear. It says in place even while I work on equipment. It can be charged through a USB port. The charge last for about 3-4 days standby. My dispacher said it it much clearer and breaks up far less the the $60 Motorola unit it replaced that kept falling off and hurt my ear. Jerry Lee

Jawbone when you get it fit correctly rocks. about the only time you can't here is when driving with the windows down.

I've been reading all of the suggestions and researching the different headsets mentioned online. So far I like the look of the Blue Parrot because it goes over the ear instead of just inside of the ear. I can not stand to use the type of headphones that you stick "in" your ear, so I don't think I'd like the other types mentioned here.

Besides wanting a headset that covers your ear, I'm also concerned about how well you can hear the caller while driving down the highway in a ST. Does the Blue Parrot provide good, clear sound? Are there other, less expensive, brands that fit and operate as well as the Blue Parrot? We definitely want something that is wireless and provides good noise cancellation when speaking too.

Good thread. I have a motorola that my daughter sold me (she works for verizon) and it just doesn't fit in my ear right so i don't use it much.

I have been thinking i need a good headset since more and more states are coming down on cellphone use while driving but wasn't sure which to get. I have seen the BlueParrots in the TS's, but wasn't sure about any of them, now i have a better idea. Thanks all!

Right now I got a Blue Eagle

The Silverado is out and I was thinking about it.

But I got a tip on one that's more rugged and better.

But till I find out more I will stay with the Blue Eagle.
maybe taped up up but still working and I run with it all the time.
Takes the abuse and keeps on working.
