Blissfully Ignorant?

‪Hardball: Blissfully ignorant Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips annihilated by Matthews‬‏ - YouTube

Unfortunately, that term describes a majority of voters. To not know that long list of both assinations & attempts, or at least 4 or 5 of them, doesn't speak well of anyone.

Ever watch those videos where a guy runs around a city (usually NYC) and asks questions like "Who is the Vice President?" and "What is the 2nd Amendment?" The answer they show doesn't speak well either.

My internet is slow, so I couldn't watch all of it. But what I gathered was this guy was talking about representatives getting shot, not presidents. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not the OP but you are correct. Too many of these idiots, on ALL the channels, can't shut their mouths long enough for a guest (guest being the active word here) to give a proper answer. That man, like so many others, was not booked on this show for an interview, he was booked for the "star" to vent on. They ALL do it and it's very rude and unbecoming but hey, I guess it makes them feel all macho and stuff.

Mathews is an idiot himself, "no other country has had as many people assassinated" Did I hear this right?

He seems to forget history and compares ourselves to ... ourselves.

I managed the first half before moron Mathews made me nauseous and I had to shut it off. The only ignorance displayed in that clip, at least before one has to go puke, is that of the idiot Mathews but then everyone knows he's a blinders wearing ultra liberal.

I'm surprised my comment wasn't hidden due to negative votes already. It was like a liberal prep rally in there!

You're exactly right - the initial context was the reaction of Phillips to the shooting of a member of congress. When he offered his predictable response Matthews switched gears and launched into his attack and took advantage of the obvious setup designed to denigrate one of the Tea Party leaders.

However, Phillips was right - assassination of members of congress is rare. The last one to killed while in office was Rep. Leo Ryan of San Francisco who was ambushed while investigating the Jim Jones cult mass suicide - in Guyana.
Only five others have met a similar fate, in case anyone is interested: Several Members of Congress Have Been Killed by Assassins

If Matthews thinks our level of violence imposed on our politicians is bad, he only has to look at our immediate neighbor to the south to learn the true meaning of the word. The same country whose illiterate peasants are invading our country by the millions and bringing their cultural standards with them.

However, we have to keep in mind this is the same guy who measures presidential greatness by the crease in the candidate's pants.

DD, it was late! Can I have a break, just this once? My bigger point was that we all owe it to ourselves to become educated voters.

I don't know if they all do, [don't watch any of them], but Matthews certainly books guests to give them a hard time, and the 'guests' know that [or ought to!] going in. As long as folks agree to appear, the circus will go on.
It's like politicians complaining about the media 'spotlight': it goes with the territory, no?
They'd complain even louder if they were ignored, I bet.

Oh jeez.....that's what they all say....a break?....well I guess, but don't let it happen again:p:p

It looked like your point was that this man was an idiot and mine was that any person of conservative values is treated this way by some on this network. I've seen Lawrence O'Donnell rant off of conservatives this way too.

We come away from this video not really knowing whether this man had knowledge of ANYTHING as he wasn't permitted to speak. It's a horrible tactic and one that "true journalists" (if there IS such a thing) would never use.
