This is a great idea, except one thing. You can not just dump VO into your tank and expect your fuel system to last. You will eventually have some sort of clogging problem in the lines or IJ regardless what the filtering method used.
The problem is that the straight VO seems to do more harm if left with all the impurities and fat in it and needs to be cleaned through a chemical process. I used to make bio-diesel and it did not matter what I used, virgin or used, it all had to be cleaned.
The chemical process I speak of removes the glycerin out of the oil, which is the fat in the VO. No filter removes it, period. If per se you use straight VO and let the truck sit after running on a few gallons through the system and it gets really cold, like 20 F, chances are you wont start you truck. The VO in the IJ will most likely be goo. I read this system (greasecar.com) has a back flush system and seems to cover a lot of problems, but they claim you can use VO in any form.
If you want to take a chance in using straight VO, go ahead, but it will void your warrantee (per D-C), it does not matter if the dealer installed the system or not. The fuel has to be to atm d6751 specification, which straight VO is not and D-C has been the most proactive auto company about bio-diesel so they will know if it commercial or home made bio-diesel used.
Oh by the way, are the tanks from this company DOT approved?
