Debunking some trucking myths here .
do you believe it to be true or not ?

* for many years there are some myths going on in the trucking industry ,about CDL schools and trucking company's making a profit centers out of driving schools ,and new recruits .
saying that they get paid ,for every new fresh CDL holder ,and then getting paid again once they have a new employee/contractor - by state/federal employment grants.

** there are also scumbags company's out there ,that will sell you on just about everything ,just to sign a new contractor onboard with a perspective carrier ,then getting paid for by the carrier ,per new recruit.

*** do you believe it happens in the Expedite industry as well ?

**** is it true that a trucking carriers gets paid for new CDL holders ,being contractors or not ?

can you back up that claim ?
do you think any of the above is wrong ?

It's common knowledge that certain carriers bring drivers on board that are fresh out of school and then use them like cannon fodder until they quit and are replaced by the next batch.

It's also common knowledge that these same carriers demand thousands of dollars from the drivers who left, per the contract the drivers signed, to cover the cost of training them.

I have met drivers who have been victimized this way and we have heard from others right here in the Open Forum.

Regarding driving schools being paid by the government for each new CDL holder and carriers (expedite or otherwise) being paid by the government for each new hire, I have no knowledge one way or the other.

, I have no knowledge one way or the other.

I think you do , you just don't know that you do .

a simple call to any of the M.N community collages ,that have CDL training ,and even weekend/nights trainings , will confirm your knowledge . last time i'v checked ,those are not (entirely) privately owned .
Chippewa falls skid pad training ,is another 'good' example .

CDL training under WIA is the biggest waste of taxpayers' money there is . Institutions receiving WIA training funds must maintain a 65% placement rate .
How do they perform this miracle in today's economy ? They place graduates with employers that have a high turnover .
Go to Safestat and check the fleet size of the carriers that hire graduates . Over the past few years the fleet has probably declined while they have hired thousands of WIA graduates we footed the bill for .
What's wrong with this picture ?
