Be sure to carry your disinfectant with you

Today Tracy and I went to take a shower. We were putting our things down on the counter and realized there was something on it. After investigation we realized it was litterally s h i t.

Someone must has sat on the counter and left somethng behind. Of course I was grossed out. We cleaned it up with antibacterial soap we had with us. We weren't able to go out of the facility in order to complain at the point in time.

When we did complain we were given another shower on our card which also added 50 points. The manager was very apologetic and embarrassed.

I only post this so you have a heads up that not all bathrooms are cleaned equally. So before setting your tooth brush down on the counter, pray the Lysol first and wipe it yourself.

I deffinately will be carrying my Lysol with me for now on to take a shower.

When I tell people what I do they look at me strange. I always carry a large can of Lysol. I spray everything in the shower and sink and commode. I go to a motel the bed spread comes off and I spray the bed, the bathroom, telephone and spray a large amount through the fan on the A/C or heat whichever. I guess I'm paranoid.:D

I've been on the road for 36 years and never caught anything until three weeks ago. Then I caught the E-coli bacteria, probably from a public toilet. Within two days I had a severe urinary track infection. The bacteria got into my blood and caused me to become septic. I woke up in the middle of the night deathly ill and ran to the hospital. In the ER my blood pressure dropped to 53 over 35 from the sepsis. The doctors pumped me up with fluids to raise my blood pressure and IV antibiotics. They told my wife that I might not make it but after 5 days of skirting with death I got well.
Funny thing is that I always use a disinfectant when I use a public bathroom. I guess you never know.

The first thing that comes to mind with me is eeeewwwww!!!!. We use lysol wipes on public toilets, but I have noticed that shower sinks are not clean (A LOT) I often see men's face shavings left behind in the sink, so I ALWAYS clean the sink before I brush my teeth. I am sorry to hear about your experience though.

I'll never again be without a sink in my sleeper. Not having to clean up in a truck stop bathroom is awesome! A shower? Well, I think I'm gonna stick with the T/S for that.

I do the same thing, the bed spread comes off immediately since they hardly ever wash them, I spray the remote or put the remote in a ziplock bag. Motel/hotel rooms gross me out even "clean" ones

I've also noticed more an more restrooms have the doors that open outwards so you don't have to touch them, or they place a trash can next to the door for the paper towel people use to open the door.

I don't spray anything either, people are using all these anti-bacterial products which kill the good bacteria on your hands as well and your immune system never gets a chance to work so a minor sickness ends up being more severe.

I agree, although some slob dropping a deuce on the dresser at the Red Roof Inn calls for extreme measures.

Right if I go into the bathroom and the seat has been "decorated" by the previous user I am going to wipe it off.

Lift the seat carefully with paper or something and use the hover approach if possible...

I would pay $5 if Paullud attempted this, the story would be worth it. I don't think I couldhover for my 10 minute bowel movements let alone a 60 second one

I spray too-when you see a shower attendent go into a shower to clean it with nothing and come out with the dirty towels from the driver before and tell you the shower is ready-I start breathing fire out of my nostrils. Not acceptable.! I complain, and will stand there while they clean it. I let the manager know and the other drivers waiting and gladly pass the lysol.

I have never been one to believe in the spraying the Lysol before. I always figured the maintance people were paid to clean the bathroom, that means spraying it down. I have never been afraid of germs in public places before, but when I seen that on the counter that I was just about to place my toothbrush on, I almost got sick!

I will be much more catious for now on. I do believe that killing all the germs actualy makes you more likely to get sick, but that kind of thing will deffinatley make you get sick!

I have never been one to believe in the spraying the Lysol before.

I had a friend who, following a romantic liaison, became worried of what he might have been exposed to (he was a germ-aphobe to begin with) and sprayed his "junk" with Lysol. I'm not so sure that's acceptable, intended use, but he felt better about that than not doing it.
