BBC Breaking News: US to offer young migrants deportation amnesty

Illegal immigrants who came to the US as children may be eligible for work permits and will not be deported, the Department of Homeland Security says.

Under a new plan, those aged between 16 and 30 who have lived in the US continuously for five years would be eligible for amnesty from deportation.

Eligible candidates will also be able to apply for a work permit.

The move is seen as addressing a top priority for many Latino voters in a presidential election year.

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano said deportation laws were not designed to be "blindly enforced without consideration given to the individual circumstances of each case".

"Discretion, which is used in so many other areas, is especially justified here," she added.

In order to be eligible under the new initiative, illegal immigrants must:

have arrived in the US when they were under the age of 16
have lived continuously in the US for at least five years
must be in school, or have graduated from high school or be honourably discharged veterans of the US military
have no criminal record
be under 30 years old.

This makes me so mad won't express here but basically he is saying its ok to break the law. But if us American citizens do it we get a ticket or thrown in jail like pound dogs for years. Bush and Obama has ruined our country and our way of living. I personally have no problems with outsiders coming into the USA but do it legally

Just more pandering by Obama. He needs to get as many illegals voting as he can. For a sitting president, the current polling numbers are looking pretty sad.
Could have done this when the democrats had control of Congress, but he wouldn't have got anything out of it back then.
Now they will all go to Colorado for college where illegals get to go cheaper than a US citizen.
9K cheaper.
Just unbelievable.

Well.....One thing for sure they ain't going to deport millions of people....any solution won't make everyone happy.....an issue of many, a many years of being ignored by the Feds...
It is a good start...well any start is a good start...
Besides making them legal here they can NOT vote....Obama already has the Amer/Mexican vote probably......This does not help Obama out in much of a way....

they can't vote....gee whiz.....won't do Obama no darned good....this has gone on long enough someone has to take the lead and get the ball rolling.....deporting MILLIONS will not happen Get used to the idea....

Down the road. This is a VERY long term plan. They will be a citizen long before you will. I never said deport them. They can leave on their own, OR, fight. I am tired of being invaded.

Granted they cannot vote (yet :rolleyes:) - maybe he is just aiming for the vote of all the legal immigrants trying to get their families here and such like.

They better not be.....right now it costs 657 dollars to apply for citizenship.....

and that is called "politics"....any sitting government would do the same...LOL

If Obama paid my $675.00 fee for citizenship...I might vote for him too.....LOL

Who has served in the military under the age of 16?

How many has a criminal record at age 12?

Never mind those are conditions for the under 30 crowd....
