Bad Stop

I had the opportunity to spend the weekend in the Flying J in Dade City Florida ( San Antonio ???). I like the flying Js for their restrooms and showers. This one was not up to standard. By sunday night the drivers mens room was a disaster and 2 of three toilets were stopped up and disgusting. Monday morning things were no better. The employees there seemed to have a morale problem and were grumpy too. Needless to say I'll be avoiding this one from now on.

It seems that many Flying J's are starting to show their age - and the quality seems to be suffering. It's a shame, they were once the best in the industry.

W#eekends are the most difficult for the FJ`s.Staff is reduced, and not the best of managers work weekends.

We had satisfactory service over the weekend while DH home.We hit Joplin and Sullivan in Mo.

When we encounter poor service,we allyays E-mail the company. We are also quick to send them compliments.

I've been in bad truck stops before and even crummy flying Js but this one really was BAD. I should complain because it ditn't come up to any sort of standard anyone would set. This didn't look like an older flying J either. I mean no-one had touched those restrooms in 48 hours.

Personally, The best J I've come across so far has been the one in Vero Beach, FL. They have everything close by for the most part... plenty of parking, and a 2 bay "streakin' Beacon" next door. There's a rest area just north going north and south on 95 just to the north of that J in Vero, and there's many truckstops at the next exit south of that J in Vero.

Dade City, FL? J that far south? in Miami area?

For future reference... having lived in FL and trucked' all over FL many years...
THE LAST TruckStop... last "Real" truckstops, are in the general vicinity of Vero Beach, FL area on 95, on the west coast, Tampa... but Tampa area needs improving...
The J in Tampa is a joke really, and the T/A by it in Tampa area is not much better. On I-75, Wildwood & Ocala, FL area's will have your best truck stops.

There's a decent J south of Jax. FL area though, also, if running Rt. 301 south to 75 from I-10, at 301 and 10 there's a T/A and 2 other truck stops that are decent.

The Petro by Florence, SC is nice, by the Chrome Shop.
On I-26, there's a Pilot around exit 54 or 59 that's nice too. it's got a McDonald's attached to it. Lots of room to manuever/park there.

This Flying J is on I75 north of Tampa. It has a Dade City or San Antonio FL address. Forgot the exit no.

ok, sorry, my mistake. Miami is in country of Dade, oops I mean county (I think), and I immediatly thought of that.

Well, I didn't think Flying J would have put a J down south of Tampa area.

By the way, found a nice Pilot up in NY, about 2 hours outside of NYC near Newburg, NY. it's on the Mississippi side of the Hudson.

P.S.
Jersey City, NJ diesel prices averaging 2.15 a gallon.

The Flying J in Dade City is a crappy one, I usually go to the J just a few miles east off of I-4 when you get on it from I-75. It's newer and is really nice.
