Tennessee Amish | Amish America One day last week I was at the Dairy Queen in Celina, Tn. Celina is north of Cookeville tn. As I was just looking out the window, a wagon pulled by 2 mules with a family of 6 kids and mom and dad came into the parking lot. It looked like a scene out of Little House on the Prairie. They tied up on the sign post and started to unload. The children were helped down by their dad and there was no pushing or shoving or screaming or running. wow, not the typical American family imho.
When they entered the eating area, they all sat down together . Four little girls in dresses and bonnets and 2 boys in dark shirts and pants. Angelic faces on all of them.
I cannot forget their faces and the peace that seemed to radiate from that whole family. No cellphones, no earbuds, no scrambling around the table, just peace..When they did talk, it was in low tones. Dad went to get their food and no one ate until all the food was on the table. Well, I guess you would have had to be there to absorb the moment, I will not forget that afternoon when the Amish came to Dairy Queen.
