Doing ok, but very windy. We are north of Jacksonville right now. Latest at our house which is in Flagler Beach is electric out and bridges are closed. That is all we know right now. Since we are on the ocean, the area is blocked and no one can get in. They had mandatory evacuations.
First time I have spent a holiday this way! We are much luckier as many haven't recovered from the hurricane a couple of weeks ago.
Wife and I have our rolling hotel so we are in good shape.

We live in Atlantic Beach FL about 2 blocks from the ocean.Wild day here, trees down power going in and out streets are a mess and the waves are probably 14 foot crests.
Wife made me board up our front windows on Friday,I bitched and complained big time but now I am glad she insisted.Of course I can't tell her that.LOL
Tommorrow (Monday) I am committed to a disaster relief program hauling water to various sites for about a 10 hour time frame.
I have a sister in Ocala FL,no power and trees down, friends in Citrus FL,2 oak trees on their house and so on.
But we all lived through it and right now we have winds gusting to 75-90 mph, supposed to calm down tonight. As I write this we now have a tornado coming this way with 120 mph winds. What a day.

Thanks to Teacel for starting this thread!

My folks emailed me this morning, they're safe in the Bradenton area. They say not much damage in their area.

Glad to hear that davekc and RichM are doing OK, hope that applies as well to all other expediters in the path of this storm.

I, too, hope that everyone came through Frances with minimal disruption to their lives. Those of us who went through Hugo, in '89
in the Charlotte area, can remember the difficult recovery period: 2
weeks without power, National Guard patrols in the streets, etc.
Also, best wishes to those of you helping in the recovery. Now, what
about Ivan!

Thankfully for our area, no real damage. Most roads including A1A are impassable at this hour and no electric. Once bridges are open over the intercoastal we will head to the house. We have a generator so we can get the lights ect on when we arrive.
We appreciate everyones concerns
Thanks again

Hope all is well with everyone in the area. Being from Arkansas I have some first hand experience with the awesome power of storms and it sure isn't pretty. Best wishes to all of you.

I'm in Sanford, FL, just north of Orlando. Worst of the storm here was Sunday morning from about 6 AM till noon. Howling wind and rain for almost 6 hours. Power went out at my home about 11 PM Saturday, but came back on Monday AM about 9:30 or so. We didn't get quite as much rain as they had warned, but I've heard that over at the coast it was much worse. Today we had the trailing feeder bands moving through, with some high winds and rain, plus tornado warnings in the area. Overall, though it went on much much longer than Charley, it wasn't quite as intense (we were without power here for 135 hours after the first hurricane went through; the eye passed right over us that time). Can't wait to see what Ivan will be doing next weekend; I'm planning to leave up the boarding I put over my most exposed window until I know where that storm is headed.

You know my luck has gotta get better! Moved here permanently and feel like we've been blasted several times! All is well with Janice and myself. Our house is still standing...our neighbors didn't fair as well. We are truly blessed! Just got power back up, and going into the hospital friday for back surgery...sorry I haven't been pulling my weight around here lately. My squirrels have been spinning that fan as fast as they could, just to keep me cool! Good luck and our prayers are with all the drivers heading to Florida to help! Please be patient, we are all pretty worn out! Talk to all my freinds soon!
