Are you as slow in this business as we are

Just wondering where this business is going. Should I look for another job or just stick it out. My husband and I discuss this frequently and more frequently lately than usual. Just want to know if this is just a temporary lull or a permanent way of the business?:'(

In my days in all forms of trucking (OTR, Local, Regional, Expedite), I've learned one thing. Run like hell when the freight is there, and live cheap when it's not. Every buisness on earth has slow times. You just learn to make do and save while you can. Best of luck.

Sound wisdom. Very well said.

I've never seen it this slow this time of year. Not a good thing with July just around the corner.

So I am not the only one sitting? I guess that is a good thing - it is not me.

My wife asked me last night to apply at the post office, seeing the cash flow is down a lot and it is to the point that she is getting worried.

Yes- sound advice. I would say that the big spike in fuel prices in the month of April, has to have had an impact on freight. Nothing seen in particular, except I seem to wait a bit longer for freight- especially during the midweek. Then I'm back to the races toward the weekend. I would say that shippers of all kinds ( and auto especially) would always rather put stuff on a big truck. If your company has a lot of accounts that must ship small amounts frequently, then you stay active. I feel sorry for those who rely on NLM loads...
Got to say this, however, there are way too many B units: I would seriously think about going to at least a C unit to be more profitable.

Very busy. Only slowing down to reset hours. We have noticed a increase in the load dimensions. Instead of a couple of skids, it seems like they are 4 and 5. Pretty much the same weight.

In a super spot for us ..we have gotten same day next day loads at least 10 of 12 times here in SC.. But we have been here for 3 days with one offer for 225 mi.. Like to think its a little soft for usual reasons.. but I still think This Gm Ford %$#%% has sqeezed the loads .. My company has just stated they used to see about 1000 available loads per day to bid on in 97' it is about 400 to 600 per day. The big three are why we are what we are today, their demise will have a huge impact very soon on us. I think It has already started. Just a prediction. have a great day....no really
