Good Afternoon everyone! The truck is fixed and we are ready to roll! Just wish they would have used some vaseline... anyway hoping we get some miles yet this week. Sprinter either needs a alternator or a pulley. Something locked up and made the alt light come on for a few seconds. Luckily he made it home just waiting on the shop to look at it. Hope everyone has a great day!

Being less than a year old, the possible parts that are bad, why don't you loosen the belt and find out where the problem is, and remove it and get the new one under warranty and re-install it? Just curious......

Dispatch came through for me. Pick up in TN tomorrow morning and deliver in MI Monday morning. So, I'll get to see my granddaughter this weekend!

BTW, today is the 10th anniversary of the incorporation of the company! Expediting came a few years later, but here is one of our original tractors. Also a pic of our first two expedite units. Note the loved/hated blue stripe, lol.

I think it is more of a supplier/vendor/rebuilder issue than a store/chain issue. I bought a 100% new alt from Napa for my old van when in Pa, and it quit 10 miles later on a Sunday after the store closed...needless to say, I made it home, and to find out different Napa stores buy from different suppliers, so not all stores honor each other's parts warranties because of the different suppliers used by different franchise stores..

Autozone batteries last about 2 years, so I get a new one every 2 years free under warranty.Same with their alternators.

For something as squirrelly at the alternator on a Sprinter (that decoupler pulley specifically), it's probably best to rely on the OEM Bosch alternator. A dealer or Europarts will have those, of course, as does many NAPA stores.

We dont have receipts. The guy we bought it from gave us a list of dates and repairs no receipts. I am not there or i would look at it myself. My cousin checked it out it is the alternator. Last owner put a salvage yard special on it...

Advance auto parts (at least ours) sell new and rebuilt bosch brand alternators!

Ah, I see this is a common problem! The mechanic took it and showed me where that pulley went bad. I had never seen that happen before. He said it wasn't exactly the bearings, it was the part that connects the pulley. Weird.
