thats not a legal limit sticker...manufacturers recommended weight....so it says on mine....and I think you are wrong on the fines....unless they get you on a safety issue and they could pull your plates on the spot Officers discretion....
Well, did not know about the plates...
As many officers are there, I guess...

Technically, by FMC safety regs., due to under 10,000 GVWR clause, you are not a commercial vehicle.
However, still bound by those rules if carrying goods across states.

Last time state trooper was checking "manufacturers recommended weight sticker" to make sure my load was within the GVWR listed on it.
Fines off the website.
Commercial Motor Vehicle: Tickets, Fines, and Court Costs
$0.02 x first 500 lbs + $60.50 for that ticket.
$0.05 x next 500 lbs +$60.50 for that ticket.
+$35 for third ticket (1000lbs)
Equals... $200.
never heard of that for a CV....first time for everything...:)

"Reason I pulled you over because you are a commercial vehicle with lettering stating so on your van, and I will be conducting paperwork check of your load and other paperwork related to your vehicle" - Indiana state trooper.
Maybe he was a rookie and knew not to bother CVs, but it can happen.
Better be safe than sorry.

you must have had the same Indiana idiot I got one night.. he asked me if I was HOS compliant ..i said NO..he proceeded to write me up with a Level 3 inspection for some reason.."Plate light out"....which was a PIA for me being with Load 1 at the time...
report it to safety dept. get a mechanic to sign off and fax it back in before the time expired...

Probably...
Guy was pissed he couldn't get me on anything and I got 3 miles over the speed limit warning from him.
I was in traffic almost crawling in the far right lane.

4600 lb direct drive to Vegas from Toronto.?
Is there any van that could even take over 4000? That's insane
No way a straight truck will make it in 40 hrs with hoS
I set my absolute max at 3300 with the Sprinter and not for a drive like that either !
Actually I had once 5000 lbs in my NV... the shipper lied about the weight, saying the load is 3000. But when the forklift guy saw my van, asked me if I'm sure that I want that freight in my van, cause each pallet weights 2500, yet the papers were saying two pallets, 3000 lbs... when he dropped the second pallet inside my van, I thought it's gonna break... it didn't, but since then, whenever I have suspicions about the weight, I'm consulting with a CAT...

The most nowadays famous airline... (at O'Hare)
Yeah they got the headlines but did you know it wasn't a United airlines plane or crew involved in that incident. I believe it was a Republic Airlines and crew. Under contract to fly connector flights. (But United did get the headline news.)
