According to a Column in: Before It's News, It says that The Tax Payers in the Recession Ridden United States Might be surprised to find that Obumma and His Administration are Spending Tax Payers Money on Refurbishing Mosques Over Seas. The above, and the Blog post at Before It's News, is a little off the mark. It's not like the US is running around refurbishing mosques. Sheesh. This is what happens when people read stuff and believe it at face value, because it already fits well with their preconceived notions and prejudices. They get duped.

The really funny thing about this is, "Before It's News" makes itself out to be some Cracker-Jack breaking news site, and then when the MSM picks it up it's then news, but you got it from him first. Once it becomes news, the Blogger then toots his own horn with a "Now It's News" section where he links the MSM sites that have picked up the story. Apparently, no one ever clicks those links, or if they do they don't pay any attention. In the case of this story, he has two links, one to where he got the story from in the first place, and one that contains the URL for the page you are currently viewing, which of course will simply refresh the page you are on.

From the Blogger, who has the audacity to call himself the "No Spin Zone", we have this little gem, worded in a very special way so as to become, essentially, a lie:

"The US recently paid to refurbish the Amr Edn El Aas Mosque in Cairo. The Mosque was named after the Islamic Conqueror of Christian Eqypt."

Well, no, the US didn't pay to refurbish the Amr Ebn El Aas Mosque (dood spelled it wrong) Mosque in Cairo. "Paid to refurbish" explicitly implies that the US footed the bill. It did not. The US paid a portion of the refurbishing costs, and a small portion at that. The government of Egypt footed almost the entire bill, with USAID contributing less than $80,000 of the $15 million project.

For more than 20 years, contaminated groundwater, in part from leaking sewers and the rise and fall of the Nile, threatened the structural integrity of several buildings and monuments in Old Coptic Cairo. The water gradually rose until it reached within 20 inches of the main floor of the 1,300-year-old Amr Ebn El Aas Mosque, the oldest mosque on the African continent. The main floor of the mosque and other structural elements were threatened, action was required to rescue the site and the surrounding landmarks from further deterioration.

The project lowered the groundwater under the main floor of the mosque to safe levels and the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities conducted restoration work to allow the return of worshipers and visitors. Improved sewage services installed as part of the project benefit the 140,000 citizens who live near the mosque.

Another mosque refurbishing project was mentioned by Mr. No Spin Zone, where he states, "The US Ambassador to Tanzania, Alfonso Lenhardt, recently assisted in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the US paid refurbishing of the Kizimkazi Mosque in Tanzania."

Again, "US paid refurbishing" implicitly states that the US paid for the refurbishing of the oldest mosque on the east coast of Africa. The US did not. The US contributed $67,000 to the project.

If Mr No Spin Zone would have done his journalistic homework, rather than merely distilling inflammatory bits and pieces from another Blog post at the Bloog Section of the Washington Times, then he would have come across even more mosques to poop his pants about, and to get others to poop theirs, too.


OK, you might ask why we are spending money to help refurbish mosques. Well, we're not, really, at least not in that sophomorically limited context.


This is part of The U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation is administered by the US Department of State’s Cultural Heritage Center and provides direct grant support for the preservation of cultural sites, cultural objects, and collections, as well as forms of traditional cultural expression, in eligible countries around the world.

The Ambassadors Fund was instituted in 2001 under the Administration of NOT Obama. It wasn't even created by an Administration, it was created by Congress. Well crap. How can we blame Obama for this anyway? I know, let's just blame him anyway. Done.

Since its creation by the U.S. Congress in 2001, the Ambassadors Fund has provided support for more than 550 cultural preservation projects in more than 100 countries. This accomplishment represents a contribution of more than $20 million towards the preservation of cultural heritage worldwide. More importantly, it shows the depth of America’s respect for the cultural heritage of other countries.

You will also find a detailed report of the 2010 awards for the funding of cultural heritage, where you will find listed such abhorrent wasteful expenditures such as $76,135 spent to help restore the late 16th century Grand Mosque in Tongxin, China, $27,440 spent on preventive conservation of the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery in Mongolia, $31,180 for the restoration of 17th and 18th century Paintings from the Compania de Jesus Church in Arequipa, Peru, $53,870 for the restoration of he 6th century Vushtrri Castle in Kosovo, and $30,466 for the restoration and preservation of documentation of Traditional Pygmy Music in the Congo. OMG. Where's my froth bib?

One might think that as a detective, you had been previously involved with investigating things, discovering facts, and ascertaining the actual truth of certain matters .... and then reporting that to others .....

If you had done the above for any length of time, it might have become almost second nature ..... part of who you are as a person ...... and that perhaps this might have continued on throughout your life, in other areas than just your professional career .....

Of course, if that isn't what you did, then your posting here in the manner you do, wouldn't be at all out of character, now would it ?
