Yeah I just spoke with a buddy of mine who was routed off the interstate for that one. He said a big truck pulling a container and a flatbed sandwiched a fourwheeler and probably killed several?.?. Just a bad stretch of interstate. A busy one too. It's the main corridor for north south freight Chicago-Nashville-Miami busy, busy always a lot of traffic on I-65 one has to be on their toes for sure through there...

Here come the lane restrictions...

Well they've already got a left lane restriction for big trucks in KY where there are 6 lanes. I suppose it applies to straight trucks as well. The van guys can just blend in with general 4 wheelers and and mosey on down the highway. I have to believe LEO's are going to be really cracking down on any and everything they can as far as unsafe driving all up and down the 65 corridor which I don't really have a problem with. The lane restriction sucks sometimes but it is what it is. I just hope some "do-gooder" politician doesn't get a bright idea about split speed limits or some such nonsense.

I wish they'd regulate the speed on 53 ft trucks down to 60 MPH.

I'll have to be on the lookout on i65, I pretty much am on all interstates/roads.

Expedite in cargo vans was not made for safety it was made to get the freight to the customer regardless of how tired the driver is...

yeah well the limit is 55 MPH on 294 in Chicago...just don't get n their way there either...
without regular/steady enforcement laws make no little difference....take Ohio...they are anal about enforcement...troopers are out there pounding everything that moves...everyone knows....hit Ohio you;d best slowdown.

The split speed limits have proven to be worthless, they need to slow everyone down.

Split speed limits are worse than worthless, they're dangerous. They force the 4 wheelers to continuously pass slower trucks, which interrupts the smooth flow of traffic. When they can't pass as soon as they'd like, some drivers get impatient, and the lane changes are abrupt, even reckless.
The less lane changing drivers do, the safer we all are.

The government is famous for passing laws that make things more dangerous. Like the HOS laws for example. Government is solely passing laws for revenue streams, safety means nothing to them.

Obviously one who doesn't pull a 53' dry van is happy to impose rediculous speed limits on those of us who do. There's really no reason the current 70 mph speed limit in rural I-65 Kentucky is unsafe for all traffic. They would not have raised it to that if engineers thought it an unsafe speed. It's the ones not paying attention to the task at hand or impatient that cause all the problems - all the regulations/enforcement in the world won't stop that. Agree with everyone else split speed limits are dangerous, foolish, they create more of the impatient motorists that we need less of and the ones texting, talking on cells, putting on makeup, reading the paper, etc, etc, they usually end up getting killed running under bumbling slow trucks that aren;t allowed to travel with the flow of traffic.
