Hard to tell from that picture. I don't like that stretch of road from Louisville to Etown. It often get "crazy". People switching lanes a lot etc.

"In the blink of an eye" ..... it appears the t/t driver was distracted ..... pay attention people!

A lot of facts missing right now but it seems like the driver wasn't paying attention.

Is it just me or is what they are calling a "tractor trailer" an expediter straight truck?
You can't tell from that picture, but it was definitely a tractor-trailer.

The accidents happened at MM 83, just a couple of miles north of Exit 81 where the Petro and Pilot are. When I got there, going southbound, I got off at Exit 96 up in Etown and came down 31W, parallel to I-65 and could see the accidents as I drove by.

There was a TT crash on I-30, just west of Little Rock, Friday morning. I've lost about three hrs... the worst thing is that you can't exit and go around, unless you are willing to drive miles and miles...

13 years of driving I've seen more fatalities on I-65 thru KY than anywhere. I've typically ran east of the Miss River in a regional operation for those years. I used to run I-81 thru VA almost weekly, which I tend to think of as a much more dangerous route, and didn't see half the fatalities through there. Of course that is just anecdotal but I've heard older hands refer to 65 in KY as "death valley". I don't know if that refers to the stretch just north of e-town where you drop down the big hill or just generally any part of 65 thru there, but the name sure fits from all the fatality wrecks I saw.

Pair of Ky. highway crashes kills 6, injures 5

It's you................:)

I read the Article YOU provided over a couple of times........Nowhere is it mentioned that an "Expediter" Vehicle was involved.

It does say that a 1999 Ford Expedition was hit from behind though...................

And.........I've been down that stretch of I 65 dozens and dozens of times over the years. It is a Highway of Destruction involving 18 wheelers. Look at it's location on a map......it is one of those "Bottleneck" Routes where multiple Interstate Avenues come together from the North-South-East & West. Us "FEMA" Guys used to call it the FedEx Death Road for FEMA Trailers. It is a stretch of Highway that we used as a main thoroughfare getting trailers down to all areas of the Gulf Coast from Indiana after Katrina hit. You had a mixture of Inexperienced Drivers running Trailers down it.....along with a mixture of FedEx Tandem Trailers drivers that thought they owned the road running into and out of Memphis that just didn't clash together, resulting in a LOT of damaged trailers with both parties.

140 miles or so from a MAJOR Fedex terminal...naw there'd be no Fedex on I-65..

No one said there wouldn't be.

Don't exactly get this ordeal.....

Just Giggi trying to be Giggi over something I said I guess.

Go sit on that Highway, I-65 between Louisville and Nashville, there for a while young Lady. Count the Number of FedEx Trucks you see running up and down, North and South, that stretch. I guarantee you the Number of FedEx trucks you see will probably be 10 fold over all other Major Carriers combined running that same route.

Again missy no one said there would not be fedex trucks. 10 fold no way but there is plenty. You will see more ups trucks because of their hub in Louisville.

just my two cents since i live off I65 between Louisville and Elizabethtown but i see all kinds of wrecks through there. i think its a mixture of the bottleneck of the highways and careless drivers of all vehicles.

and as far as fedex trucks i used to work for the major fedex freight hub in Louisville and we usually had 150-200 trailers a night coming out of there.
