I am in the Saint louis area and am playing with the idea of getting into the transportation industry. I have noticed alot of pick-up trucks such as chevy 3500 and f350's with a goose neck flatbed trailer delivering to local companys and hauling everything from automobiles to generators. I have talked to a few guys and they tell me different things about running hot shot loads with these type of trucks however i have not been able to find a company to lease onto that would use my services if i where to start something up. any info that anyone would have please let me know.

Next time you see one parked, look on the door of the pickup the company name along with icc number should be there.I looked into it a couple years ago and cannot recall the company name other than they are based in Elkart I.N,i think they pay around 71 cents per loaded mile.

I'm not a Hot Shot, I deliver RVs, 5er & tag, pony, open/closed utility, and "stacks" of about anything that can be stacked. I run with Hot Shoters, most I know have their own authority and insurance. If you wanna lease with an RV Transport you'll have to get a trailer that has a center pull cable winch. They load 3 or 4 trailers on a 53ft goose flatbed. Some use a tag trailer, but I wouldn't. The pay quoted above is for "single pulls, or what I call straight pull. Never have been able to figure out why: 1) the Manufacturer gets X2; 2) the Dealer gets X2; 3) and the Transport Co gets X2. But the driver doesn't get X2 when hauling multi's. It takes twice as long to load, it's at least twice the wear on the vehicle, and there's all them other tires to pay for. I guess I'm dumber than a brick, just can't seem to figure it out. I'll stick with straight pulls, less wear on my little PU. If you wanna pull RV's contact Hoosier RV Transport, Inc., search on that you'll get the site. Another is Garrett International Transport, Inc. If you hire with Hoosier tell them Steve Johnson hooked you up, maybe they'll gimme sumpin. If you hire with Garrett, they have many more terminals. These days everybody wants you to lease and run for nuttin and you pay most the expenses. Most RV Transportation Co just love to lease a MD truck & Trailer. But most guys with this equipment got more sense. They keep me busy, I'm always outta hours. I don't wear my badges less I'm loaded.
