An Historic Week

Similar to FDR and LBJ before him ,our President this week confirmed his place in history as a courageous and exemplary example of what is possible in this great land.He will forever be remembered as the first President in 30 plus years to get it right for all the people ,for generations to come.He now has the wind at his back and will accomplish more for the people then any other 2 term President in history. Similar to the southern Democrats in '64,our nation seemed awash in desperate hedonists with a mob mentality determined to bring this important and historic legislation down. Idiots like John Boehner and the regular cast of Republican spokesmen (Rush ,Glen etc) became frozen in their tracks and set the GOP back to zero with veiled threats and childish gibberish about bringing violence to our fair country.
Of course, they are only making noise, as they have neither the spine nor the intelligence to bring anything more then their empty threats. They may now grovel in their pig pen of mud slinging and vigilante hyperbole while the rest of us celebrate not only our fine young President, but the most powerful woman in the history of US politics,San Francisco's Nancy Pelosi. She not only had to get this important legislation passed once through an apprehensive House, she managed to do it three times, congratulations Speaker Pelosi!!!
This week was a game changer in so many glorious ways. We will now see a congress that can finally get things done , the Presidents agenda (unlike w,who had none) will become a reality and he will stand up for freedom for all, including the Palestinians, fight Global warming on all fronts, repair our economy with regulations and once again return our country to greatness and worldwide respect.
The unmitigated and unprecedented damage done by 8 years of w and a congress entrenched in lobbyist money for 6 of those years is nothing but a bad memory at this point.
It's a wonderful new morning,I'm very proud to be and American and plan on working hard to make sure our national nightmare of GOP control will never become a reality again in my lifetime ,and that creatures like time Ms' Palin remain fodder for late night television shows long into the future. It's never to late to become part of our exciting new agenda in America, and look for updates from the old Tallcal from time to time.Be safe and watch your profits rise as the new awakening in America gains traction.

Andy,
I don't see it all that historical other than a lame president with lame legislation being passed by one of the smallest margins ever using trickery within the congress for a major landmark bill.

It seems when comparing it to FDR and LBJ, Obama has nothing to be proud of, unless we have lowered our standards so much that we accept mediocrity and serivitude as the norms of today's society. Like a lot of other abortions, this bill will do less other than to help a select few at the expense of many.

I mean look at the BIGGEST thing people are pointing to to compare - FDR's Social Security and LBJ's Great Society - both are utter failures by all accounts. BUT both were passed not just along party lines as this mess was but rather enjoyed a lot of support form all involved.

It is funny, it's just like Hollywood musicals. For the longest time we had nothing coming out of Hollywood in the form of good musicals and our standards slipped to the point that Hustler was good entertainment. BUT now came Chicago with Richard Geer and Renee Zellwiger, which was just horrible but praised by all because our standards slipped. She didn't deserve an Oscar as much as the film deserved any recongintion but it happened because we don't know what it is like to have good entertainment as much as we don't know what good leadership is.

But I digress ...

Unlike FDR's Economy Act of 1933, Obama's simulas packages are no where near the mark in helping the country but rewards the same behavior, the same people and expands on the problems we are facing.

I think that most of the country isn't too easiely fooled by the guy and by preforming the on the road dog and pony show, it shows his own lack of confidence in the new mess and nothing else.

Yea wait until the profits rise so they can be taken away by the new taxes for 2011. Just a reminder that we have yet seen real relief for new jobs or even something to gain back the ones lost so I would think maybe this false recovery may end by second quater 2011 when the first quarter taxes are due.

Whatever you chose to call Obama, he ran on the health care agenda and he got it passed. People that voted for him knew his health care aganda and he won. And you know as well as anyone greg that jobs are the last thing that comes back after a recession, so why keep saying "wheres the jobs". You call it a dog n pony show, I say he went after want he believes in and won.

No sense rehashing prior posts about the financial successes of MassCare, TennCare and Medicare. But since our Tall friend has trumpeted the glowing prospects of our future under radically liberal governance, maybe we should take a quick look at the Golden State to see how that philosophy has been working:

"Kazakhstan and California, the lowest-rated U.S. state, share a Baa1 ranking, three steps above non-investment grade, from Moody's Investors Service. California was given a BBB by Fitch Ratings and A- by Standard & Poor's, four levels above non-investment grade. Both companies rate Kazakhstan lower, at BBB-, one step above high-risk, high-yield junk."

California's Debt: Now Riskier Than Kazakhstan's - And A Bigger Worry Than Greece?

And this evaluation from Evercore Wealth Management:

"California is a role model for how not to manage a large state. It combines an ever-widening budget deficit with a lack of government discipline..."

Thus, we see how well CA has done with the liberal guidance from its legislators. This gives us an insight as to how we might expect the entire country to function if Nancy Pelosi and Barack Hussein OBorat get their way. As is the case with MA, the states can call on the Federal Govt for bailouts when their bond ratings approach junk status. What do you suppose the Chinese reaction would be if the US bond ratings fall to even AA and OBorat shows up bowing with his hand out?

Coming from someone who likes to rub it in. You seem satisfied with socialism. I wonder why you don't apply to move to Venezuela or Cuba. You'd fit right in, Cal.

Probably also coming from someone who never plans on using the he11care. Like the ones who are too stupid to buy their own, you're the only ones who want this crap... not the ones who are secure in their own motivations.

Well Oiler, it seems that he sold all of of you on the idea that there would be an open government, no more back room deals, disclosure of ear marks, reaching across the aisle and so on - I take it he lied about that which also means he never intended to change the face of Washington Politics.

A lot of the health care changes have strings attached, which is not really normal when you see what's been squeezed into it. The trickery is not just about ethics but how it is perceived by many opponents on shuting down the opposition.

But the defenders of Obama, those who are so fooled by the need to "right a wrong", seem to be saying that health care was the only thing keeping his administration alive. Without it "his administration would be doomed", it would go down in history not as one of change but as one of defeat because of racism within the politics of Washington.

It comes down to this, he's has a lame administration because of the divide within his own party and the vote that took place.

The republicans didn't vote against this because he was proposing it but because the changes that the great messiah were selling that he was against to get elected were the very ones which is how business is done there. The bipartisim, the reaching across the aisles, the open doors were actually practiced by the republicans between '94 and '06, it was the democrats that actually got a lot of their stuff passed and the repubs sacrificed a lot of things to appease them - look at the bills and who sponsored them while looking at the margins of passage.

See it seems that you among others just don't get a lot of things about the messiah.

You don't seem to understand what this is really about because if it was all about health care, then it would have taken the same amount of words to enact the legislation as it did for the original social security act - 15,000 or so words, 38 pages. There isn't anything complex telling insurance companies not to restrict subscribers or other things, but 1500 actual pages with another 1000 pages of addition definitions are used in this to create a mess.

Nevertheless, It comes down to facts;

FDR and LBJ both had their party and the opposing parties support in congress for a lot of their stuff.

Never have we seen such a divide from a party with a sitting president in hard times as we have with this one.

The actually benefit of this law will not actually help a lot of people because of the complexity of it, the stripping of rights of some individuals and the fact that it leaves out so much because of political posturing.

AND we all were lied to, regardless who thinks this was his agenda, by trashing the republicans and then telling the people we will see a better government but in fact had seen more closed door political maneuverer with no one reading what's in the bills, we are in for a lot more crap in the future.

The koolaid obviously hasn't lost any potency. The gushing over the idiot in chief reminds me of the junior high girls who'd visit our girls and how they were so giddy over some boy or another. They matured out of it though.

The conservatives' sweet revenge could be this: once the GOP regains majority control of the House of Representatives in November, they will simply refuse to fund the new healthcare initiatives. Without funding, nothing moves forward. Our Founders were smart to put so many checks and balances in place.

Obama's magic carpet ride ends as His Uppitiness confronts reality. The judicial and legislative branches are co-equal to the executive. We will have no monarch in America.

We will have no monarch in America.

We don't?

What in the h*ll is the first lady's office and why are we funding her (including Bush's, Clinton's and Reagan's old ladies) trips and other events?

I say cut the funding for the staff and travel for her and the kids.

Better to keep our snarling First Lady busy lecturing fat kids than have her meddle with really important social issues.

True, but we can only hope her political aspirations are limited to the garden and fat people.

OVM,
What do you like?

Getting the crap taxed out of you?

Having medicare funding reduced?

There are better solutions than this bill, look around and see when was the last time anyone asked the state to change their regulations.

We'll see the way it works out for South Dakota residents...If true what I read then I'll not be taxed nor forced to buy insurance....since my HC will be more then 8% of my gross income.
