An Additional Benefit From EOBR's

Since I know how to use a ruler to draw a line, understand the difference between logging a fuel stop as a fuel stop instead of logging it as driving, and can do simple arithmetic to calculate my hours, I hadn't thought about the benefits EOBR's provide to drivers who lack such skills.

Now that I am thinking about it, EOBR's may provide a yet unmentioned benefit to the carriers that have for years been putting drivers on the road who have difficulty with arithmetic and seem unable to efficiently and properly maintain a log book. With EOBR's, such carriers can lower their hiring standards even further.

With the prospective driver pool said to be shrinking and the high school dropout rate on the rise, this may not be an insignificant development.

Additionally, EOBR's can deliver cost savings to carriers by reducing or eliminating the HOS training that new drivers receive. I can see those budget-conscious safety departments licking their chops now. Why waste time and money teaching drivers about HOS and fatigued driving when EOBR's eliminate the need!

In the years ahead, will EOBR's level the playing field, or will they degrade the game by making it easier for dregs to suit up and drive?

@ 500 $ a piece , and 4 million trucks, this is a 200,000,000 $ industry.
@ 35 $ a week, this is a 72,800,000 $ a year guaranteed income.
yep, administrations creating new jobs in America.
you must buy it, because the gov. say it's good for you, kind of like the Obamacare.

this is not about safety, and will not make our roads any safer.
