1941 Government vs 2013 Government

Putting things in perspective.
March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.
December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.
What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this federal government to build a working webpage.
Mobilization of millions, building tens of thousands of tanks, planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc. Turning the tide in North Africa, Invading Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin - all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!!
And they can't build a webpage.

The ALCAN highway was started on March 8, 1942 and completed on Oct, 28, 1942. Of course, it was only 1700 miles long through a total wilderness, nothing nearly has hard as putting together a web site. I wonder how many DIED building that web site? Must have been HARD on them. SO many paper cuts to deal with!

Well what do you expect. My dad's generation, that won WWII, was the get in there and get it done generation. This generation, the leach generation, is the sit back and wait for it to be handed to you generation. They're still sitting back and waiting for a website to be handed to them.

Wadda you expect anyway? The parent company of the SOLE BIDDER for that website was a CANADIAN company. A SOLE BID on a project THAT BIG? And they go on about DOD bid rigging? What a JOKE! Little doubt the Demoncrats are running this mess.

I've said it before, and I will say it again . . .

They were truly the Greatest Generation.

They were not held back by the government like the generations since. Look at what was funded, who made the money, the story is clear.

My generation, the 60s generation, is the 'do as I say not as I did' generation. Free loving, pot smoking liberals until their kids got old enough to worry about. And then they became conservatives and did everything possible to make sure the kids couldn't have any fun. Supervised play time and endless lectures about 'not making the mistakes I did'.

Now that the kids have left the nest, marijuana is getting legalized everywhere. Changing their spots again I see. The boomer senior citizens are going to be trouble. I'm picturing cars in the left lane with their left signal blinking for mile after mile while gramps huffs on a fatty.

Speak for yourself. Please don't include me in the lunacy that was part of the '60's. I was not smoking pot or doing any of the silly stuff. I was hunting, shooting and fishing. I worked, started at age 8 or 9 with a paper route and was working dances, in a band, starting at 11. Then, after high school I was in the Army. Married as soon as I got out. Raised my kids in the country where they were allowed to run free. NO supervised play. The ONLY "supervised" activity I had them in was 4H.

Pot should have never been make illegal in the first place. It was very much a racial thing. IF I remember correctly put in place by Democrats.

Well I did think about qualifying my statements to make it clear I was talking about liberals (who were in the majority after Goldwater :)) but I didn't think I had to.

Racial? You lost me there. Btw, if it matters, I can't imagine me ever accusing you of not being a conservative.

I FIRMLY believe in the VERY liberal ideals that this country was based on. Individual rights. A government controlled BY the People where the People hold the ultimate power. Where the rights are not granted or controlled by the government and ONLY the People and the States have rights. Where the federal government is small, with very few and well defined responsibilities.

Obama etc are ultra-conservatives. (the government in general, Obama just happen to be the bum in charge right now) What we have in the US today much more closely resembles the ultra-conservative governments of, England, and Europe in general, that we fought against to form this Nation. Everything this government is doing now is anti-freedom and anti-Constitution. VERY ultra-conservative. Taking away freedom by the force of government is NOT a "liberal" idea.

Please do no include me in that den of thieves by calling me one of them.

Flunked US history, eh? :p

Freedom is a VERY liberal idea, and it is very rare. Our government is working hard to remove as much freedom from us as they can. This is nothing new. They have been doing this for more than a century. They are attacking our freedoms on all fronts. That is NOT liberal. That is ultra-conservative. ANYONE who wants to restrain my freedom is NOT following the liberal ideals that this Nation was founded on.

You must be referring to the already hunted, picked, cooked and served Goose generation. I have run into a few of em.

IF, this is what you anticipate doing as you age....you musta not had a very good pair of role models. I'm kinda confused tho, were you bornd in the 60's , or, come up in the 60's.......there is a difference with which direction the sun comes up.

Are you asking if I anticipate following behind a fellow geezer with his left turn signal on for no good reason? Yes I do. Are you asking if I'll be the geezer huffing on the fatty? Gee I sure hope so. lol But I have a CDL so I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon. :)

I was born in 1954 so I was too young in the 60s to be a part of anything that was happening. But I was old enough by the late 60s to be an observer and in my view the boomers that formed the liberal majority at the time, were/are turncoats against what they claimed they believed in very strongly. Liberals then. Conservatives when they thought it suited their child-rearing needs. And now they're returning to their liberal roots in time for their old age.

Note the movement to legalize pot and also the acceptance of gays. Liberal agenda stuff in my view. Before you know it we'll get universal health care for crying out loud. :)

1954? That is when my LITTLE brother was born! Yeah, so many are now returning to what they were taught in those Marxist controlled public schools. You know, the government conrolled indoctanation centers. Nothing like a good ole national health, redistribution of wealth system, to finish off the economy. More government controlled graft and corrpution. They can bankrupt that too, like they have SS, Medicare and Medicaid. Just think the IRS, not your doctor, running your health care. GOTTA LOVE IT! Darn kids will fall for anything. EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me where I'm on the wrong end of the mobius strip that represents your thinking on this...

Liberals don't get it.
Conservatives don't get it.
You get it.

A few things you might want to note:

Every tax and virtually every action that any government does redistributes wealth. I know it's a push-button designed to get people riled up but that's all that kind of talk accomplishes.

SS, Medicare and Medicaid are not bankrupt. The programs require minor tweaks every couple of decades but again, it's a handy push-button that gets people that don't know better all riled up.

Government controlled indoctrination centers is hardly an original thought and there is some merit to that concern. Do you have a better idea than schools?

If I'm younger than you it puts me closer to my mental peak (such as it is/was lol). In other words I'm probably a little less senile than you. So there! :)

The real crackup is that while he rails against it, he apparently doesn't realize that he was the beneficiary of that gubmint redistributin' ... ;)

SS etc are not bankrupt? One, where is the 2.6 trillion that is missing from the SS trust fund? Two, borrowing more money to pay for these programs is not solvency.

We are 17 trillion in debt, and going deeper each day. The debt could not be retired if we tried. Sooner or later the bills have to be paid. We are taught that you should never pay one credit card with another or only pay the interest/minimum payments on loans. That is EXACTLY what we are doing as a Nation.

I am not opposed to schools, I am opposed to the Federal government being involved with them. It is a conflict of interest for one and it is one of the primary reasons our schools are so bad. Schools should be controlled at the local level, not state, not federal. The idea of an education system controlled by the federal government SHOULD scare the pants off of anyone.

The problem is that we are reaching a point where there are more people not earning than earning. Peter has been paying Paul's bills for a very long time, the problem is, Peter now has little left.

Obama Care is adding millions to the welfare roles. We should instead be trying to find ways to get people off of welfare. We need to return to the idea that we should be earning what we have. We need to return to the idea that no one is entitled to other's wages.

As to which of us is more senile, it would likely be a very close race. We are, after all, both expediters.
