Works for a lot of other countries. As mentioned, border could easily be shutdown but politics on both sides keep it flowing freely.
Could you expand on that please.

I don't know of any civilized countries (other than Israel, perhaps) shooting to kill as a border control method.

This is a tough issue because children are involved and we cant just put them on a bus and drop them off. I feel very sorry for those kids and how they must be feeling, bet most will have mental issues when they grow up.

Since this is an international issue, why hasnt the UN or other decient Nations offered to help.

As for Obama flipping off the Supreme Court and the rule of law, that should speak for itself.

I think at the end of the day, you do have to put them on a bus and send them back. If not, you will never correct the problem. It will get worse and worse, and we can't be the babysitters of the world. We are 17 trillion in debt now, and bringing in thousands that will do nothing but impact our current poor is a bad idea. Sometimes you just have to say no. As for the UN, don't think I want them involved. The UN is nothing without our money. Do we want someone else making decisions on our border? A thought to ponder.

Then you might want to stop being the parents of the world. Just a thought.

The U.N. is worthless imho.

No need to ponder.

You are correct about UN, they are a bunch of socialists. Since kids are innocent and need protection from the bad amoung us, I would like to see an International adoption process with afflunent nations. Concerning the underlying issue of the currupt, gang rule, and poverty of the childs contry of origin, it would be great if the international community would help fight the gangs and find a viable solution.

I hate to say this but in the back of my mind is a thought. It is very strange how when things are begining to look bad for a ruling political party a major crisis(distractions) appears. I hope that thought us just a false thought.

I just hope for the kids sake that a solution that is legally and morally correct will be found. It breaks my heart seeing those children fenced in and being forced to be cared for by strangers. Very sad.

Regardless of whether one hails from the Conservative School of Asshattery or the Liberal School of Naievete and Nitwittery, the "blame it on Bush" excuse for the govt's policy failures simply doesn't hold water. The Obama administration with Eric Holder leading the charge has intentionally foiled the states of TX and AZ from enforcing the nation's border laws, using legal challenges and other forms of intimidation to keep the border states from enforcing immigration laws that are currently on the books. Obama has been in office SIX YEARS and has done nothing of substance to improve the situation. What people fail to realize is that it's not just these illiterate, lice-infested kids that are being dumped into our cities but also the drug cartel activity is ramping up as well. Of course there are higher increases in illegals from other countries than Mexico, because they were maxed out already; now we've got them coming from China, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia - every one of them are no doubt "dream chasers". This influx of undesirables is more like the Mariel Boatlift on steroids.

The following article makes some good points regarding aspects of this crisis that tend to be ignored by the mainstream media, but it all comes around to one main point: the federal govt - ICE and the DOJ in particular - is not doing it's job and upholding our laws, and anyone who thinks that Obama and Holder don't have any influence on this situation is kidding themselves. Their influence has been evident for six years, and it's been overwhelmingly negative.

You had me until "six years."
1942, that's how long it's been going on. I know the desire of to blame the current administration for some massive major part of it, or all of it, or some particularity objectionable part of it, but no administration since 1942 has done their job in upholding out immigration laws. They have all been equally inept.

Since I can only remember upto the Nixon admimistration, that is my reference point.

The major issues like Education, Govt. spending, Economy, etc have not been successfully dealt with. Every Admininistration had its share of scandal and curruption.

In my opinion people are too easily persuaded ti support unqualified canidates due their popularity. The idea that women are more interested in their reproductive rights than the serious issues we face as a nation is insane.

We have many people, especially the young and uneducated that are persuaded by propaganda rather than facts.

The sad thing is that we the people allow this sort of thing to happen and compremise our liberties by supporting incompetent leaders.

This same discussion has been going on for over two hundred years. Details vary but the same general feelings are expressed.

Our government isn't perfect but it's better than most other countries.

Always has been always will.

We have hundreds of directions the country is being pulled each day. The people of this country have never agreed on the details of our government. That is the whole idea. Our government works because of our disagreement. It's almost never pretty but the country endures.

In 50 years we'll still be complaining about illegal immigrants. And companies will still be hiring them. And the sun will still shine.

My major concern is the way the voters are letting their Constitutional rights take the back burner to Apathy, and allowing the special interest groups influences go unchallenged.

We have the right and duty to challenge idealologies that go against our core beliefs.

The government has no right to punish people for voicing their opinions or living their lives according to their beliefs. We have the right to disagree.

We are living in a dangerous time and the way things are going, we may foolishly allow our rights to be taken away.

A persons rights stop when they violate anothers.

So by that logic FDR's administration mishandling illegal immigrants is justification for the ineptness and/or incompetence of the subsequent presidents and their administrations - especially when this one continues to make such a big deal of promoting amnesty for a flood of illegals never before seen in our history? Although FDR was dealing with a World War at the time, he wasn't faced with Mexican drug cartels, Muslim terrorists who want to blow themselves up in shopping malls, and hordes of children being shipped into the country demanding welfare and other free social services. Obama and his lackey Eric Holder could have put measures in place to deal with these problems, but instead choose to fight the states' efforts to enforce our laws. Now he's decided to use his pen and phone since Congress won't agree with his amnesty campaign.

What you said it could just as easily have been written in 1801, 1901, 1950 or any other time.

Eisenhower's "Operation Wetback" was successful for an extended period of time in stemming illegal immgration at our southern border. The man who was Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during WWII knew fixing a border control problem was a matter of will.
