I wouldn't mind it if Nancy Pelosi just went away. :)

But then, I wouldn't mind it if Fox News went away. :)

I wouldn't mind it if face lifts went away. (Pelosi might possibly look like a kindly older person but instead she looks like a caricature of Nancy Pelosi. Stop it people, just stop it. It's wrong and it makes you look like idiots.)

The reason for the ongoing border problem goes back to Nixon and what the oh-so-stoopid war-on-drugs has done to Mexico. Mexico is so screwed up now we just about need to establish a DMZ buffer zone. Congrats conservatives, there's another humongous problem you created.

You are too funny. I don't think most would say todays border problems have anything to do with who was president 40 years ago. But nice try.
If you want to use Nixon, I think his scandal ridden ride has some similarities to the daily scandals coming out of the current administration.

You're right of course. Nixon declared the war, but it was the Reagans who executed it with abandon. You gotta love devotion to, er, um, a bad idea. But at least they put their hearts into it. :)

Oh...I believe closer than you think. The arrogance of both is quite astoundingly similar. As for scandals you are right, Nixon's were more limited and today we seem to have one on a weekly basis.

Our situation with regard to the illegal immigration at our southern border is much worse than a babysitting problem. These children are most likely going to stay permanently in the USA. They will need social services now and for decades to come at great taxpayer expense. For the most part, these illegal immigrants do not speak our language and are many years away from acquiring employable work skills. These are children, that's why I am not using the term undocumented workers. Why would the Obama administration be so keen on not deporting them? The answer is demographics and politics.

These illegal immigrants are future Democrats. It seems Obama is working to fundamentally transform this nation in profound ways, such as ensuring the demographic mix shifts decidedly towards the Democrat party. By importing more Democrat votes, even changing the mix over a decade by just 1 or 2 percentage points, the Democrat party might enjoy a permanent majority nationwide. While Republicans might continue to hold Congress, presidential elections would almost certainly go to the Democrat nominee. It could take 10 or 15 years, but if unchecked immigration continues on its current path, the liberals and socialists will rule and conservatives will be mere bystanders in their own country.

Unaccompanied minors at the border fall under the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, which passed the House and Senate unanimously and was signed into law by President George W. Bush.

That law says the children cannot be sent back. They must instead be held humanely by the Department of Health and Human Services until the courts release them to a “suitable family member” in this country.

The child “shall be promptly placed in the least restrictive setting that is in the best interest of the child,” the law stipulates. “Placement of child trafficking victims may include placement in an Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program … if a suitable family member is not available to provide care.”

Thank you for this important explanation.

I believe that only applies to children at the border by themselves. If they are with a mother, which is most at this point, it falls under another law which is what Obama is hanging his hat on to send them back.

Biden's objective was to emphasize that adults arriving with their children in the United States don't meet the requirements for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which defers deportation for children brought to the United States before June 15, 2012

The gist of the problem is the impression among Mexicans and Central Americans that if young children can just get across the border, they will be allowed to stay in the United States. Whether these childrfen currently have a parent in the US might be a moot point. Get over here and you can stay. These children are entering the US illegally and that should not be rewarded.

There is a school of thought which holds that Obama and the Democrats are manufacturing this border crisis with the intent of making the situation so emotional and heartwrenching that the mean old Republicans will cave on comprehensive immigration reform; thereby granting the Democrats a complete victory on the issue.

The deliberate refusal to enforce immigration and border control policy has created this mess. Send the children back to their home country and secure the border or what we are witnessing today will be just one of many human wave assaults on our nation. Fix the problem or simply stop pretending we have borders.

Does anyone remember Elian Gonzalez, and the efforts taken by the Clinton administration to literally rip him from the arms of his relatives in the US so he could be sent back to his father in Cuba? Shouldn't these runaways be reunited with their parents in the same manner?
