Is Work Accident insurance the same as Worker's Comp? I can either purchase it weekly through my company or get it from somewhere else of my own choosing. About how much is a good rate per week/month? Who do you have your insurance through?
They're both the same, more or less. Worker's Comp is for employees, and Occupational Accident insurance is for employers and the self-employed. A good rate per week is between $25 and $35. Much less than that and you're probably not getting any kind of decent coverage, and much more than that and you're overpaying. Here's a typical plan and benefits. -> $500,000 Occupational Accident Plan, Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association
Mine is through OneBeacon Insurance and is underwritten by Atlantic Specialty Insurance. It is deducted weekly by my carrier.
