Alot of freight?

Right now i'm driving a freightlinner classic for a drop and hook company and i see you guys and gals all over the US. Is the freight for this industry really that hopping or do you set for days looking and waiting?
What i mean is that i get down to Laredo and El Paso almost weekly and i always see straight trucks and vans sitting in the truckstops, mostly Panthers but some other. Are you having to wait on your loads or is it just down time?
Just a thought i had to ask.

The Classic: probably the worst truck on earth to manuever through really tight spots, but great when you need to sit on the hood, to scrub the windshield, lol, or want to study the night sky...:)
The trucks & vans sitting at places could be taking a mandatory break, or waiting for the next load. you'd have to ask the drivers. Like with any large group of people, some are approachable, some aren't. And most could go either way, depending upon the approach.

Most people if the curtains are closed don't want to be bothered. If you see a driver sitting up in the front seat don't approach the truck as if you are a panhandler. We really enjoy talking to people about our driving experiences. Most of the time we are approached when we get out of the truck, walking through truck stops or parking lots.
