A doomsday scenario: you're caught away from home, and there's no more government, or law & order, and you need to survive on foot, with only what you can carry - what would you include in your pack?

BioLite Campstove, iPhone and water. Lots of water. Oh yeah, and my Swiss Army Knife. I never leave home without my Swiss Army Knife. I did leave Florida a few weeks ago without though.

You're gonna get really hungry.....
Water's pretty heavy - wouldn't a purification thingamajig, like a SweetWater rig, or tablets, be smarter?

I always have plenty of fishing tackle in the truck. I have knives and I have a "survival" kit. A hatchet, saw, fire making stuff etc. The secret to survival is seeing the crisis coming and get home BEFORE it hits. There I have ALL I need. EnglishLady and Tony are welcome! She needs to learn to shoot though!

Saftey vest and hard hat....might buy you some time, when the authorities are rounding the sheople into the Fema trains. Maybe a red cross badge, or better yet, become a red cross volunteer.

That is very true....but my scenario is as soon as there is a hint of trouble im leadfooting it back to home base.....so i still feel i can buy my way home...im prepared to spend/trade whatever it takes....i have preped my home well... and i am only good for about 4-5 days in the truck....so home is a most...and in a situation i want to have home field advantage.

I will be zipping to "the barn" if I even think it is about to hit the fan. No use pushing my luck.

They suggest having a charm bracelet or necklace full of gold and silver pieces, that can be removed easily for barter.
I know what your saying is true, but I don't understand the gold thing,If you have gas,or diesel, food why would you give it up for some gold that you can't eat and won't take you anywhere. I guess the stores might take it,but I'm guessing the stores have been looted, sold out or just gone home to look out for there family.
