The Lanstar version I had seen had a built in stand up sleeper

I got to visit for about 4 minutes with a nice guy in an Aerocell on a Ford E350. It looked good and seemed to be in great shape, especially when I found out it just turned 8 years old. They bought it off the floor of the Louisville show 8 years ago. He said it's been a great vehicle. It's got a generator and climate control system and is very comfortable according to him. He also said it will hold 2 skids side by side if they're the 48x42 or whatever the smaller than 48x48 size is. I hadn't thought of that before he mentioned it. I know it's only one unit and one opinion but to see one in that good condition after 8 years and getting a good review from someone with 8 years experience in it definitely adds credibility.

We may have ran into the same guy. The one I ran into was a single driver, (I think Harry) and he was with Landstar.
I ran into him down in Waco, Tx

This was a husband/wife team but she was in the back on the phone so I didn't get to talk to her. He was sure sold on it though and I am moreso now after seeing how good an 8 year old unit looked.

The one I was referring to had a fantastic sleeper. Very roomy. It was simular to a freightliner highrise columbia. You could stand right out of the seats and go to the back. Base price on the truck show model was $50,000. Add a sleeper and generator, you should be at high 50's. If it can get a "C" rating, this would be a great setup. With his setup I believe he could carry 4 to 6 skids. Certainly more than two. This was the long version. He used ramps to make it dock high but the MATS display looked to be dock high already.

I got a quote on the 17' body unit on a diesel E450 chassis as follows:

We have an E450 with a 17' Aerocell bosy with pull out walk ramp in stock.

It is equipped as follows: 6.0 diesel, auto trans, a/c, 4:10 ratio rear, cloth bucket seats, speed control, trailer tow mirrors, engine block heater, light convenience group and am/fm stereo.

Body: 17" fiberglass box-roll up rear door-10x24" pull out ramp-sliding door through bulkhead and 1 1/2"pine floor
Payload is appx 4700lbs

3yr 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty-5yr 100,000 mile warranty on diesel engine.

MSPR 42,416
Disc -5,700
Total 36,716
Rebate -2,500 (state of Va, other states may vary, at standard rates with FMC, 3.9% also available in lieu of 1,500)
Cost 34,216 + applicable tax tags, title & process fee (289.50)

So for around $35-36k with options plus however much one put into the sleeper it would be on the road. Not much different than a Sprinter and I think it would be a much better solution for overall comfort and capacity.

Is this 4500 the same as the one on the general forum. Kinda like a pickup truck front. That is the $50,000 quote I got at the show.
Regular vans were more in the mid 30's

The quote is on a Ford E450 which I presume looks similar to the E350 van. The one photo in general is a Chev Kodiak 4500 which very well may be around $50k all said and done. It's certainly better looking than any E series I've seen and while that's no reason to go for it I'm willing to admit looks would play some part in my choice. The 4500 has a higher payload capacity than the 450 by over a ton which is another plus for it.
