Abandon all hope, ye who enter Laredo

High temps forecast to be close to 110°F for the next 10 days. Hope you have some serious AC. I think most engines will overheat, idling in that weather.

Same here in the DFW area.

Just posted these pics on my FB page.

That time is PM, not AM. It's dark outside, should be cooler than this by now. But, when I open my back patio door, the humid heat hits you just as if you were opening the door to an oven while baking something.

Texas Heat......Have To Live With It!!

I'm pretty sure it has been over 100 degrees for more than 6 weeks now in Laredo. I keep waiting for the call from dispatch telling me I have a load headed there. One of our drivers has been there since Friday evening. I called her yesterday to express my sympathy.

Living in the DFW area is pretty hot, too. But, not as bad as Laredo. 3 of my Shih Tzus are headed to Petsmart today to be shaved and the fourth will be done next week. Too hot for them.

Right now it's 64 degrees in Wentzville, MO at 8:22 AM Central. Almost chilly!!!!

Makes the 67 headed to 81 today in Asheville sound even better, especially if I find some shade somewhere.

When we were there the Monday after Easter it was 112. About 3 weeks ago when we were there, we bought the ac and generator. Only used it twice in 4the days. We actually ended up putting on pants and sweatshirts at night.

I was offered a run yesterday from Indy to Laredo, 1600 lbs of hazmat, I balked at the rate, ($1.35), for something that would involve me logging and taking 10 hour breaks on the way down .... glad now I refused it for other reasons .... 110 degrees just isn't healthy!

Leo, have you taken the time to wander around downtown area of Asheville? They have some pretty cool shops there. Also, you can see some interesting architecture.

We were in El Paso over the week-end for a Monday morning delivery. Was 117 in the Petro parking lot. I have a rubber matt on the floor between the two seats . . . it melted to the floor. :D

Find a dirt lot to park in, no need to sit on that asphalt!

A word of caution for those of you with pets in the truck ... placing them on the parking lot to walk over to the grass may result in burns to their feet. I always carry the Min Pin I have .. I know it looks silly .... like she can't walk on her own ... but .. that surface is torture to them!

OK ya'all here in Laredo and our APU is calling for a get out of town quick load! 117 yesterday and 106 today you walk faster, you hide out behind closed curtains, and ya seem real unsocialable if you think of grilling could put your food on the hood and just turn every now and then. Enjoy the cool if your there, fellow expediters we will be heading that direction soon!!

I am sitting at home for the rest of the weekend and its confortable..that being said...my new truck has a 4ft wide 10 ft long "translucent" skylight" in the roof...i sat with Jenny and Nick and Guido in Laredo in that heat. I have been in Ala and Miss and a few other places where it was over 100 and that panel lets the van become a so hot the ac unit will only take it down to 80 inside....I put a freight blanket up just behind the seal to block the back are off and that helps a bit letting the ac to get the front down to 73-75...

As i sit at home reading this, it reminded me that there is a roll of foil backed bubble insulation in the shed....Thanks!!! I have something to do this afternoon!!!!
