A Great friend of mine sent this to me and I wanted to share this with everyone. I couldn't download the picture but it came with a picture of Lady Liberty.
Well today is Monday and I made some deliveries in NJ across from NY City. I met this lady while I was on one of my deliveries that I had to share the experience with you. As soon as I saw her in her majestic way of standing there demanding so much respect I said to myself I have to let my trucker buddies know about her, I wonder if she would let me take a picture of her for my class of trucker buddies.
As I looked at her I really did not want her to see me staring at her beauty and knowing in my heart what she represented I thought to myself do I even approach her and ask her if I could take her picture. Her majestic stance was so awesome. She appeared to represent Freedom and yet her smile was that of a welcome for anyone in the world to come to her home.
When looking at her I knew she had come from a foreign land. I could not place it but I knew it was a place of artistry and sculpture and a lot of history. As I thought I said to myself when I hear her speak maybe I can detect an accent. As I listened for her words no sound came from her lips but she was saying so many things just the way she stood there. It was as if she held a torch to light up the ocean so that anyone wanting to come to her home now would have a light to lead the way.
I almost forgot to tell you she wore a simple robe but yet had a crown upon her head which lead me to believe she was from royalty.
A man standing next to me said that she was standing in her yard and that she lived on that island in the middle of the Hudson River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. He said that the local folks call it Bedloe Island and it is next to it is Ellis Island. After she moved in they changed the name to Liberty Island.
I told this man that she is a very beautiful lady and he said do you know how old she is? I said I did not have a clue. He told me that your Grandfather and Great Grandfathers have probably met her and went through her house when they arrived in this country. She welcomed them with open arms and told them that this was the land of opportunity and freedom to do as you like. She also told them that this was the land of Liberty and she got the nickname "Lady Liberty" He also told me that she decided to move to this Island on July 4th, 1884 and this almost made me fall down because I thought how could she be that old and yet so beautiful and stand there with such strength and stature. I also learned from him that in August of 1884 is when they laid the cornerstone to her present home.
Before I left her I had to stare back at her one more time and in that short moment I saw the following things that I thought were so significant.
Her crown had twenty five windows in the bottom of her crown represent the 25 natural minerals of earth.
The 7 Points on her crown represent the 7 Oceans of the world and the 7 Continents of the world.
The Torch she holds in her left hand represents Enlightenment
The Chains under her foot represented crushing the chains of slavery.
Well learning all this I was just so excited I said Lady Liberty could I be honored enough to take your photo and send it to my trucker buddies. She turned to me slowly and with these words said to me.
Tell your Trucker Buddies to not forget what I have stood for since July 4th, 1884. Tell them to never forget the Freedom that they have and how many people have died proudly to protect that Freedom they have. Tell them to never forget the work and sweat that so many people suffered through to give them the life they have today. Tell them to remember me and to tell there children what I stood for and will remain here standing to represent. By all means take my picture and share it with those precious children of The United States Of America. May they be as proud as I am. You can also tell them I came from France.
