Terrafugia has completed flight testing of the Transition POC (Proof of Concept). Introducing the Transition®. Simply land at the airport, fold your wings up and drive home.
Fly a distance of 725 kilometers at speeds of 115 km/hour;
requires a special license to drive and fly.
The time required for the transition from plane to car takes less than 30 seconds.
Vehicle speed 185 km/hour, range is 724 km on highways
Vehicle is fueled with gasoline, and the price of the car is expected to be around $200,000.
The first shipment will be in 2011
The company is based just outside of Boston in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA.

Cool idea!! The Jetson's come to life!! I sure hope it can hover though, can you imagine if these things catch on, stop lights in the sky!!! LOL!!!:p

They are ALL street legal in Alaska. Airplanes have the right of way everywhere there. Kinda interesting driving down the road a see one taxi by.

I was not lucky enough to see that the one and only time that I got to spend some time up there. I did love it up there, I could be "FORCED" to live there. Who knows, might end up there someday.

Nothing really new. They have been around since the late 40's. They just haven't caught on.

Sort of like the windecker eagle - although it paved the way for other composite airplanes.
