The Food City grocery chain is primarily located in Central Appalachia of Eastern Kentucky, East Tennesse and Southwestern Virginia. Appeals to patriotism sell well in this region and other rural areas. Food City knows their customer base.

The Food City chain I speak of is owned by K-VA-T Food Stores. The first Food City opened in 1955 in the coal mining village of Grundy, VA about 20 miles from Feds Creek, KY where I grew up.

Yeah, ours is a different outfit but we do have Food Town over here. I was just making a joke. I think some of them expanded too. I remember being places and seeing Food Giant.

The Food Hamlet chain I speak of is owned by El-MER-JOHN-SON Food Stores. The first Food Hamlet opened in 1963 in the wheat growing hamlet of White Butte, SD about 25 miles north of Bison, SD where OVM and Juju reside.

I was just making a joke. I did live near a store called Food Lane when I was a kid. Ching Johnson, a customer was shot in the store during a robbery. He survived and one of the bullet holes could be seen in the acoustic ceiling tile near the entrance.
