Does anybody know what expediting co is negotiating with Schneider to merge. And did you know that the merger does not include the cargo vans. Could this be the reason for the slow down for van loads. Could this be why so many van loads are being put on the D units to up the load count for that class.}>

I tried to find the answer to this riddle on the net but my search turned up nothing. I guess I'll just have to guess at the answer.
FEDEX Custom Critical.

I don't know that one! BUT!!! I am willing to lay odds that it will not be Fed-Ex CC or Con-Way Now. It could be Panther II, or even TST. Do you know when this is going to happen?}> }> }>

I don't know how much stock i would put in this. Rumors have been flying that JB Hunt and Schenider have supposedly been setting up or buying out expediting companies for 6 years that I have know of.

I think its sort of like that urban legend that you can get satellite tv by hooking your television up to your Qualcomm dome.

If I was to venture a guess on this rumor I would say it has to be Tri State. Tri State is the only major expediting company that does not have ties to a large Corporate Parent. Tri State is privately owned and has no Big Brother looking over their shoulder. We all know who owns FDX CC. I believe (and I may be wrong) Panther is owned by the Celadon Group,Conway Now is owned by Conway, and lEA is a Landstar Subsidiary. I see no reason why any of the owning companies would want to part with one of their expediting companies and sell that company to one of their competitors unless there was huge losses involved. These rumors come and go.I remember a few years ago that Roberts Express was going to be sold to JB Hunt. However Schenider and oufits like JB and Swift have huge customer bases plus resources so it may happen.
Since we are posting business situations I found out tonight that the pending sale of the Williams Truck Stops to the Pilot Corporation has been blocked by the Justice Department.Guess they felt that Pilot was getting too large and could control fuel prices and distribution to a degree.

My guess- none. Any truckload carrier could start their own expedite division if they wanted to, but there is no reason for it with truckload, and it would not be a good investment for them. Schneider indeed runs some stretched Century Class straight trucks with their Knoll division, to deliver furniture into the cities. LTL's such as Con-Way and Yellow use expediters all the time, when they require an air ride truck or super-fast delivery, or both. Expedite does not have much competition with truckload carriers, and expedite is here to stay, as it would have been gone long ago if the truckload carriers could REALLY make a fast system with 53 footers work. Won't happen, and typical expedite O/O's are not going to put up with a Schneider-like system of low pay and long periods away from home.
