A new Category?

I recently had a post pulled for inappropriate content. I don`t wish to argue the point of it, or defend it, as I understand it could be viewed by different people in different ways, and the mod is just doing his job and is within his authority to pull it, as he or she sees fit.
I answered the moderator with this: (" i think pulling my post with an explanation of why it was pulled would have been sufficient without bringing out the infraction whip and leaving the message residue on the loading dock forum for all to see and wonder about, is a bit of overkill".)
The screws are turned so tight on what`s acceptable on EO these days, I think that someone like me is bound to cross the line unintentionally from time to time, considering how many things I post.(even though 99.9% of my posts are never a problem.) Maybe we need a forum category for 21 and over so we can say the things, and post the jokes that I hear in truckstops, and get in my email, and not always have to temper things, and be wary, as though we were all boyscouts...heck, that`s a golly good idea!".
I also apologized for any offense my post may have caused. The post was never intended to be anything but humor. My fellow truckers don`t express themselves anywhere near some of the EO posting guidelines, and if they did truckstop and CB conversation would be pretty dry. I also understand there is a certain amount of decorum needed in any public forum. Is it feasible to have a forum category that you had to be of age to read, and you could post with no holds barred? I know I pass over most of the humor I`d like to post, and I mean MOST, because it doesn`t fit within the guidelines for language, or content. The stuff I don`t send is the funniest, and the most controversial, and is also the stuf I hear on the road, or recieve by email.

How about this. Those of us who are adults could sign up for a bulk emailing and get the stuff not deemed as appropriate. I somehow think this mailing would have more content than the forums. I for 1 would like to read the stuff that Lou can't post.

Well, that's not really true as evidenced by 6 emails back and forth from a few months ago when I then asked you politely to consider re-wording an earlier post of yours. You argued the point at that time. I re-worded the joke, sent it out to several people and they thought it was just as funny without the profanity and sexual overtones. Yes, I save all emails because I have learned from experience that folks develop selective memories.

If you remember our previous discussion of your post a few months ago, at that time I simply pulled the post. I beleive that you tell folks one time and that should be sufficient. Apparently I was wrong in this particular instance.

Sir, that is the great thing about living in a free country. You have the opportunity to chose. Either you live by the guidelines of your accepted choice or you exercise different options: You can post on another site that has no, or little, moral values or ethical character, or you can start you own site.

I also apologized for any offense my post may have caused. The post was never intended to be anything but humor. My fellow truckers don`t express themselves anywhere near some of the EO posting guidelines, and if they did truckstop and CB conversation would be pretty dry. Personally, I find CB chatter to be the worst. Federal agents that monitor such chatter have used the content to develop profiles instrumental in solving henious sexual crimes. And quite often in truck stops I'll get from the table and ask fellow truckers if they can drop the profanity from their conversations, usually because their are families sitting within earshot. Additionally, profanity adds nothing to the context of any communication. As a veteran, and former outlaw biker, I know from experience that my conversation was such simply to be accepted into the group. Later on in life, I discovered that profanity is actually a roadblock to effective communications.

Moreover, much of the "so-called" humor degrades women. Quite interesting that those men who tend to elevate their status above women through the use of what they determine to be humor, also seem to consider themselves superior to other races and cultures. I believe your infraction was the result of a post that had racial overtones. I don't believe that the concerns raised two moderators, coupled with the research of a host of psychologists and sociologists can be wrong.

Most of your posts have been quite helpful and interesting. Unfortunately, the bad ones diminish the good. It is kind like adultry. Yes, a wife can forgive a husband that gets caught in the act, but the level of trust is reduced to zero.

As I said, you have choice. Hopefully, you will chose to continue posting and simply consider the concerns that have been brought to your attention.

Dave...I don`t see why you have to dredge up a past difference of opinion between you and I. Nobody else knows what it was all about because the offending post was pulled. I accepted that and simply wrote to you privately that I didn`t agree with your assessment of what I considered not offensive. It was a difference of opinion that you chose to rule on, by pulling the post. It`s over. This latest pulled post, addressed in this thread, was completely different. That`s the reason that I suggested a possible new category. Maybe a new category has merit, and maybe it doesn`t. Another moderator felt compelled to pull my post for alleged complaints received by forum members. The content of the two posts were completely different. So they got pulled, so what? That`s what moderators do. They monitor.
There must be others out there like me, who are not so easily offended, and would consider my posts as what they were intended to be, which is humor. I have posted over 1000 things here on EO, and as I recall, over the years, only two or three were pulled. That`s a pretty good record. When you post something in any forum, you always run the risk that someone will be offended, or may disagree. That`s life. Did you ever stop to think, that what you personally choose to delete, another moderator may not? Difference of opinion.
Here on EO, over the years, I`ve seen people be offended by things that border on the ridiculous, over and over.

Lou's humor is, without question, a highlight of EO. The Loading Dock has been a forum where the guidelines have been a bit looser. I don't know of Lou's jokes ever being a problem, until now. I guess most of us aren't wound up as tight as you Dave. Let it go. Nobodies kid is gonna become a serial killer because they read one of Lou's jokes!
